Within WiSOR, Dr. Schwarze is hiring a part-time (20-30 hours per week) Project Coordinator to run a newly funded project to evaluate a novel curriculum to train surgical residents in advanced communication skills.
This curriculum, called the Fundamentals of Communication in Surgery (FCS), is a skills-based curriculum that uses principles of adult education to support surgical trainees in developing the techniques they need to care for surgical patients. We aim to implement the curriculum at 10 sites throughout the country, evaluate the impact of the curriculum, and develop broad dissemination strategies. The ultimate goal of the FCS is to train all surgical residents in the United States to use these critical skills.

The ideal candidate is a skilled problem solver who will excel at project coordination and offer strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
The ability to perform as an agent who drives progress and enables productivity is essential. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in contributing to this nationally acclaimed project as part of a collaborative team whose work has reach and impact for patients and families in clinical settings across the United States.
This position will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of tasks including but not limited to, curriculum adaptations, production of educational materials, logistics and task coordination, data collection and management, website design, and plans for broad advocacy and dissemination.
