As a Marine Environmental Advisor, you will assist in the management of the marine environmental scopes associated with a construction project and function as a key member of a marine team. You will work in a fast-paced environment with dynamic conditions providing technical support to project managers.
Your Key Responsibilities
Report to a marine environmental lead and support environmental compliance
Assist in the coordination and oversight of a variety of environmental monitoring programs
Review construction readiness for and provide technical support during construction
Manage a complex reporting framework, providing technical review where appropriate
Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, in accordance with project specific plans and guidelines
Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively with a small project team
Ability to work within a larger project team and liaise with multiple departments and contractors
Self-motivated, has excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills
Construction background and familiarity with BC Regulatory Framework is an asset
Experience with multiple disciplines such as stormwater management, sediment and erosion control, contaminated sites, excavation, spill response, incident management
Able to make on-site environmental technical decisions
Class 5 valid BC Drivers' License and good driving record
Level 1 First Aid is an asset
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or Biology is required.
Qualified Professional required (R.P.Bio or equivalent) and specialization in marine water quality preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an environmental scientist, with experience in marine construction.
Candidate will have the ability to travel and work in remote location and the willingness to work 10-12 hours per day on rotating shifts. Typical office environment working with computers and attending meetings, interacting with project staff and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Sporadic field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
