JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Project Coordinator under the general direction of the PMO Director is responsible for developing, closing and managing all aspects of his/her assigned projects. The incumbent works closely with IT Project Managers to integrate user needs, collaborates with technical specialists, makes assessments and implements project plans. Scope of the role includes working with a project team that may include physicians, clinic staff, project managers and other staff. The incumbent manages smaller IT projects, upgrades, and components of larger projects and assists with training, testing, and activation and post activation activities. The IT Project Coordinator may also provide personnel oversight of a cross functional project team composed of IT, business operations and vendor staff.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

A Bachelor's degree (preferred) in the areas of Nursing, Business Administration, Information Systems, Organizational Development or Management Engineering preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years experience in Information Technology or 4 years Operations experience in a health care environment required.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS

  • Ability to work both independently and in small teams assuming leadership role and delegate particularly in teams where candidate has no direct supervisory responsibility.

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to communicate technology to non-technology staff

  • Knowledge of time management and the ability to prioritize / reprioritize projects.

  • Possess strong communication, public speaking and negotiation skills expressing ideas clearly and persuasively in both verbal and written format

  • Possess strong logical, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Possesses strong PC Skills, All Microsoft desk top application software especially Microsoft Project.

  • Excellent meeting facilitator skills

  • Must demonstrate strong customer relation skills

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification a plus

LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Valid California Driver's License, Class C, required.

  • Certification from the Project Management Institute (CAPM or PMP) desirable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL (not modifiable)

  • Working jointly with Project Managers and IT Staff, identifies scope of project and project deliverables, define issues and risks within the project, identify key staff involved in and impacted by the project, and identify internal and external customers

  • Develops memos, letters, and/or flyers to communicate the progress of all the projects

  • Assures smooth turnover of projects both at the initiation as well as the conclusion to users.

  • Collaborates with User Groups to maintain an ongoing understanding of business issues and needs.

  • Coordinates with and direct third party vendors.

  • Facilitate communication between project team members on deliverables.

  • Working with PMO Director, and Project Managers, monitors project schedule and budget; facilitates discussions on the assessment, documentation, and recommendations on business process flow to achieve project objectives.

  • Works with users to identify and assess organizational strategies and systems/applications that meet operational needs

SECONDARY (modifiable)

  • Maintains PMI credentials and provides Project Management education and resources to the hospital

  • Other duties as assigned

The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on the individual's skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
