General Description

We are headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, but serve clients across the nation.

We are looking for a talented Project Coordinator who is passionate about working on world-class, client-facing projects to help clients change the world through execution of successful IT projects. This Project Coordinator role has responsibility for leading the execution of multiple projects across different business areas at client sites and for internal projects.


  • Assists client teams with planning and executing projects in compliance with Flexential Professional Services' processes and procedures; managing (e.g., tracking, updating, reviewing) dashboards and reports.

  • Coordinates diverse perspectives from various stakeholders to produce high quality project results.

  • Responsible for defining, leading and developing project tasks

  • Drives projects with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams

  • Recommends options or solutions that meet project stakeholder needs and desired outcomes; validates solutions with subject matter experts

  • Defines the overall goals of an engagement and communicates goals to stakeholders

  • Analyzes work product progress and provides objective reporting of project status

  • Coordinates activities between work streams and identifies changes in scope


  • 1-3 years Project Management/Coordinator experience

  • Interest in learning new skills and keeping pace with changing technologies

  • Ability to problem solve and work with others to find the best solution

Completes projects and follows practices consistent with department plans and policies within a department-wide context that supports all chartered land uses and open space purposes. Coordinates implementation of prairie dog management including direction from the Prairie dog working group and departmental management plans executes field work (30-50%);develops management strategies ; provides education, outreach, and support to resolve issues related to prairie dog conservation and management; provides consultation, specialized technical assistance, design, planning and management to conserve and manage conflict with prairie dogs on OSMP properties; performs related duties as required. Examples of Duties 1. Works in a collaborative manner to help implement the prairie dog conservation and management program, which includes the following: * Collaborates with other staff to help develop and implement prairie dog management annual work plans and multi-year projects identified in OSMP plans and prairie dog working group recommendations. * Works cooperatively with OSMP staff to develop and implement best management practices, procedures, and policies to accomplish department goals. * Coordinates and performs prairie dog management and conservation field work and short-to-medium-term deliverables to accomplish department goals. * Conducts assigned responsibilities within the program, which may include planning, permitting and contracting for relocation or lethal control, public outreach and education, budgeting, monitoring and conflict mitigation, to meet department goals and resolve problems. * May assign, coordinate, coach, and lead temporary employees, volunteers, and other agency personnel in performing program work in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner to meet department goals. * Builds effective alliances with other department service areas, city departments, local and public interest groups; coordinate with appropriate agencies and partners to help ensure time lines, regulatory requirements, public process requirements, and budgetary constraints are met. * Develops client relationships and provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers through careful listening and understanding of client issues and by communicating research findings, best management practices, OSMP plan and Prairie dog working group guidance, and project statuses to ensure multiple management objectives are being met. * May contribute design recommendations and monitoring to help ensure department compliance with regulatory requirements related to prairie dog management. * May assist in coordinating and managing seasonal staff, contractors, and volunteers. 2. Provides advice and technical assistance for management planning, public outreach and education, project design and implementation of prairie dog conservation and management program goals within a department-wide context that supports all chartered land uses and open space purposes. * Serves as a technical resource and process expert. * Develops and provides technical advice and objectives for inclusion in department planning that support program goals. * Makes project related budget recommendations and cost estimates to inform work group budgets. * Collaborates with agricultural and soil health staff to ensure integration of goals and objectives across programs * Brings the best practices and/or objective scientific research available to inform management decisions. * Reviews department project designs, permits, and leases to make recommendations for improvements to better meet program goals. * Collaborates with department staff to train and implement best management practices for maintenance, agricultural, and conservation projects to support program goals. * May perform public information and outreach activities including working with community members and landowners to support conflict mitigation and management on OSMP and adjacent properties * Contributes project recommendations and monitoring to help ensure department compliance with regulatory requirements related to program disciplines. * Works as part of a team to coordinate staff response to issues related to program disciplines. 3. May coordinate and participate in monitoring related to the prairie dog conservation and management program for the department including: * Lead seasonal staff, volunteers, outside researchers, and contractors in implementation of program * Create monitoring project estimates to inform work group budgets. * Coordinate with other OSMP staff to maintain program monitoring data in accordance with department policy. * Lead and/or work as part of a team undertaking projects related to program goals; may coordinate and direct studies done by contractors to ensure compliance with sound project and monitoring practices and compliance with contracts. 4. May perform public and staff information and outreach activities including applicable liaison roles including: * Provide liaison role to internal department staff for the program. * Develop and conduct informational and interpretive presentations to educational institutions, organizations, and the general public. * Provide periodic training for staff and volunteers. * Provide liaison role to external organizations for program disciplines, as applicable, representing department goals and integrating with the goals of others. * Help resolve public concerns related to program disciplines. * Participate at a professional level in field of expertise. 5. May lead, coordinate, and oversee seasonal staff activities for the prairie dog conservation and management program including: * Work with other staff to plan, develop, and relay daily work plans for seasonal crews and ensure that directions are being followed. Perform or coordinate necessary training for seasonal crews. * Work with other staff to ensure that crews are conducting work efficiently, effectively, and in a safe and legal manner. * Assist in coordinating and managing contractors, volunteers, and interns. 6. Other * Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city. * Maintains a high level of professionalism and integrity; provides excellent customer services to internal and external customers; listens to questions and concerns, evaluates issues and possible solutions, works collaboratively with OSMP and other city teams to find solutions to challenges that arise; inspires confidence and respect; uses feedback from others to grow and develop. * Provides performance management input and recommendations to workgroup supervisor for temporary employees. * Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property. * Actively supports and upholds the city's stated mission and values. Optimizes the use of resources; responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies. Generally, duties and responsibilities are listed from most to least critical or time consuming. Qualifications REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Science, and two years of experience in the field of wildlife management or wildlife ecology, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to rely on experience, training, and independent judgment in determining how to plan and execute responsibilities in resourceful and effective ways. Demonstrated ability to develop or improve objectives, processes, and/or work plans. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, governmental agencies, and the public. Ability to prepare effective written reports, and to work and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, including the ability to deal courteously with the public and land users. Effective organization skills. Working knowledge of ArcGIS software, knowledge of Microsoft Office. Physical ability and willingness to work in adverse weather and field conditions. Ability to use all safety equipment. Valid driver's license. Have and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – In addition to the required minimum qualifications: Knowledge and experience with prairie dog conservation and management. Knowledge and experience with agriculture or soil health related land management. Prior experience leading technicians, contractors, and/or volunteers. Strong proficiency with ArcGIS. Demonstrated knowledge of wildlife conservation and conflict management techniques and activities in Western High Plains and/or Rocky Mountain Front Range Foothills ecosystems/cultures. Supplemental Information WORKING CONDITIONS - Required Physical and Mental Effort, and Environmental Conditions: Physical Demands and Mental Effort: Ability to perform a wide range of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment. Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, and kneel. Ability to carry up to 40 pounds while hiking on rough terrain.
