Project Coordinator - Family Based Prevention

Grade: 18

Full Time Salary Range: $61,811 to $79,370

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Project Coordinator at the Office of Mental Health, Office of Prevention and Health Initiatives.

Background:

The Office of Prevention and Health Initiatives (OPHI) is charged with proposing new policy and programs emphasizing primary and secondary prevention efforts. This office oversees initiatives targeting individuals across the lifespan, with the goal of advancing a robust and comprehensive prevention agenda. The office also works to consider and address social determinants of mental health that are increasingly recognized as critical to overall health and wellness of individuals.

Under the direction of the Director for Strategic Clinical Solutions, the incumbent will help support the oversight and implementation of a growing portfolio of initiatives designed to protect, promote, and maintain the mental health and well-being of all New Yorkers across the lifespan with particular focus on addressing structural inequalities that disproportionately affect specific populations. The successful candidate will have the ability to assist with compiling and analyzing information, develop action steps to further the prevention agenda in collaboration with team members, possess excellent verbal communication and writing skills, work independently as well as on a team, use standard office technology and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The qualified candidate may present at conferences.

When presenting at conferences, some events may be held in or out of state and may usually require travel for more than a day

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform duties to promote the development, implementation, and evaluation of family-based prevention, wellness, social determinants initiatives and special projects including:

  • Routinely track project activities as reported by project managers and disseminate to team members. Existing initiatives and special projects include, but are not limited to:

  • HealthySteps

  • Infant/Early Childhood initiatives

  • Provide support for program development and oversight as well as contract management.

  • Draft and edit documents and materials for internal and external meetings, including agendas and meeting minutes.

  • Organize and maintain files for program management, grant management, and contract management.

  • Work closely with program leadership and staff to aid in the development and collection of process and outcome indicators to track program performance and inform program operations.

  • In collaboration with members of the team, identify emerging issues in the field and analyze data and current policy as appropriate to inform future programming recommendations.

  • Assist with grant writing and grant management.

  • Arrange meetings with key stakeholders to coordinate and streamline prevention activities between the Office and external partners.

  • Prepare for and participate in presentations at local, regional, and national conferences.

  • Participate actively in other activities as assigned.

  • Travel within New York State is required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in an appropriate behavioral health, public health, public administration, social sciences, or related field;
  • 2 years of professional experience directly related to infant/early childhood programming and reading, analyzing, and interpreting documents.
  • 1 year of Graduate level coursework in behavioral health, public health, public administration, social sciences, or related field may be substituted for 1 year of professional experience.

or

  • Associate's degree in human services or a related field; and 5 years of professional experience required reading, analyzing, and interpreting documents.

Preferred Skills:

  • 1 year of experience connecting vulnerable populations to an array of community supports.
  • 1 year of demonstrated ability to network and establish meaningful partnerships with state agencies and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • 1 year of experience with webinar management and technical assistance.
