Description

The Coordinator of Institutional Event Planning at LSU Health Shreveport will report to the Executive Director of Communication and Public Affairs and work closely with staff of Medical and Strategic Communication, Physical Plant and Communications and Public Affairs to ensure all institutional events are appropriately branded, marketed, planned and executed within budget all while meeting client expectations.

The Coordinator of Institutional Event Planning at LSU Health Shreveport is responsible for planning, marketing, and executing events for the university, including select events for the Schools of Allied Health Professions, Medicine, and Graduate Studies. This role involves collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to organize events based on the requester's budget. Events may include commencement ceremonies, academic conferences and symposiums, educational events, health fairs, celebratory events, employee appreciation events, recruitment and outreach events, and family/alumni events.

Position will involve evening and weekend hours.

Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. The work hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

Qualifications

A two year degree with six years of proven experience in event planning to include events for a minimum of 250 individuals, plus the applicant must meet one of the following:

• Proven problem-solving skills to identify and overcome challenges and obstacles that consistently arise during the planning and execution of events.

• Understanding of contract negotiations to secure best pricing and service from vendors and suppliers.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and licensing requirements for various types of events.

• Ability to provide post-event evaluations that leads to cost savings, stronger connection to mission and overall improvement in future events.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in executing multiple, large events (500+) in a short timeframe among highly educated professionals.
