This position supports schools and districts in providing high-quality English Language Arts (ELA) and English Language Development (ELD) instruction for students in grades TK-12. Applicants should have a firm understanding of the California ELA and ELD Standards, as well as the current research and best practices around the Science of Reading, the California English Learner Roadmap, and Integrated and Designated ELD.

The Project Coordinator for ELA/ELD should have experience providing engaging professional learning to educators and administrators as this will be a large component of the role. They will assist school and district leadership in establishing and supporting high-quality, equitable language and literacy instruction in order to address the needs of the educators and systems that serve the diverse student population in Sonoma County. The Project Coordinator is expected to model and support classroom efforts to enhance language and literacy skills across grade levels.

They will also provide opportunities for educators from multiple systems in Sonoma County to learn and collaborate together. They will serve as a resource to schools and districts as they explore, review, and implement ELA/ELD resources and/or course models that seek to address inequities that exist around language and literacy education in their current system. The Project Coordinator is expected to stay up-to-date on statewide and national language and literacy trends, policies, and initiatives that impact students and educators in Sonoma County. The coordinator will also work closely with department team members on interdisciplinary projects and trainings.

*Requirement: Appropriate valid California Administrative Services credential or enrollment in a program to pursue one
