The role of the Project Coordinator, Distribution is to analyze historical and current data to identify opportunities for improvement based on individual distribution center or network trends. This person will also support a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented environment in a cross-functional team. This position is responsible for embracing Family Dollar's store-centric commitment to customers, customer service and sales.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage projects directed at process improvements and equipment upgrades assigned by the Engineering Department
Update or create various reports on network DC information for use in making future DC project decisions.
Send out monthly reports on Items, Pick Utilization, and Aging Merchandise.
Track and manage the network cardboard and plastic recycle program for DC's and cardboard being returned by stores.
Serve as a back-up for the Sr Analyst, Inventory and Distribution Systems by performing one DC audit per year.
Provide hands-on project management and actively manage project plan, deliverables, dependencies and outcomes for assigned project(s) to ensure the goals and objectives are achieved within the project timeline.
Perform detailed analysis and present status findings for operational, project and individual activity on a weekly and monthly basis with limited guidance to all levels of the organization.
Manage tracking of all capital expenditures for the DC network.
Other duties as assigned.
Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week
Some travel to all 11 Distribution Centers, with extended travel during the opening of new Distribution Centers
Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of experience
Experience: Broad knowledge and experience with end-to-end distribution methodologies and strong project managements/project coordination skills with experience on large or multi-divisional projects and an understanding of the basic principles of inventory control.
Job Related Skills:
Experience with WMS; strong technical skills with Microsoft Office suite; experience with Catalyst WMS and/or Legacy WMS is strongly preferred; Experience with Crystal Reports and RETEK is preferred. Strong organizational skills especially in the area of project plans and controls, project management or project coordination on a large or multi-divisional project, strong problem-solving abilities, multi-tasking capabilities. Willingness to take on difficult problems, ability to work within established timeframes, excellent interpersonal relationship building and communication skills, and works effectively in a team oriented environment.
