Work Performed A detailed description of functional areas and tasks follows: The position is full time, but a part-time option (30 hours per week) may be available if desired.
This position will act as a key collaborator with the primary investigators to lead the research teams in developing, refining and conducting project activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with school principals, ESL teachers, and classroom teachers to recruit Latino English Learners (ELs) to participate in the study. Collect and organize parent consent forms and parent surveys.
Coordinate and schedule data collection activities including teacher surveys, workshop evaluations, parent surveys, student assessments, teacher observations within several North Carolina school districts.
Supervise senior research aides in data collection and data entry activities.
Create and maintain database of all study data, including online teacher surveys, student assessments, classroom observations, and parent surveys.
Analyze and interpret quantitative andqualitative data in conjunction with principal investigator(s), statisticians, and other members of the research team.
Lead efforts in obtaining and maintaining university IRB approval and reporting on grant activities to the Institute of Education Sciences.
Manage project administrative responsibilities such as contractor paperwork, project invoices, short-term cash funds, research participant consents and payments, etc.
Participate in preparation of manuscripts for publication, written reports to funders, and conference presentations.
Attend project-specific meetings - this includes travel to various school sites.
Manage the workflow of data collection staff and an undergraduate research assistant.
Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following qualities/attributes: Excellent organizational skills.
Experience working with teachers and students. Proven excellence in working with a research team and coordinating data collection Experience conducting evaluations of school-based programs. Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
