Project Controls Specialist

We are searching for a Project Controls Specialist II for a 1 yr. contract assignment. The person in this role will be providing cost tracking/cost forecasting on the major projects within energy supply which ranges anywhere from coal to gas, wind, solar and battery. This role could be described as more of an analyst position or construction accountant.

Perform primary project controls assignments to support Project Managers. Accountable for generating reports, assisting with control activities, responding to data requests and developing/maintaining/supporting project schedules and/or detailed cost tracking.

Coordinates with Project Managers to obtain weekly and monthly cost and schedule updates. Assist the Project Managers in providing accurate project forecasting and review of expenditures.

The person will work alongside the project managers to keep track of the project financials, the health of those financials and the project by submitting monthly forecasts accruals.

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Hybrid: 1or 2 days remote the rest in the office. Subject to change.

Responsibilities

• The person will work alongside the project managers to keep track of the project financials, the health of those financials and the project as a whole by submitting monthly forecasts accruals.

• This person would be responsible for driving/managing their own tasks/workload.

• Attending project meetings, (most of which are virtual) to keep up on what's going on with the project. The work is cyclical depending on the day of the month; the beginning of the month is our month end close in which this resource will be working on forecasting, reconciling the actuals from last month.

• During the middle of the month, the person will be focused on attending those project meetings and staying up to date with things that are moving around in the project, whether it's cost related or not.

• The busiest times would be that last week of the month and first week of the month. The middle part of the month, however, you are still busy, staying engaged with the project itself.

Requirements

• Must have at least 5-7 years' experience with cost accounting within construction industry, renewables would be a plus. Candidate can come from oil and gas industries as well.

• Experience with Primavera P6, SAP Work and Asset Management required depending on additional job details.

• Familiarity with data analytics reporting tools preferred.

• Must have experience with forecasting, accruals.

• Must have strong proficiency with Excel as they will be doing pivot tables, graphs. Etc for presentations.

• Experience with macros is also preferred.

• Must have knowledge in SAP (ECC) to pull reporting. Experience in SAP (ECC) is strongly preferred.

• Strong proficiency with Excel is also required; pivot tables, graphs, Macros experience would be nice.
