Project Controls Specialist - F&O

Overview:

The Project Management Office (PMO) of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Project Controls Specialist to support the project controls efforts on work within the Facilities and Operations Directorate, working primarily with small scale construction projects.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work with project managers to establish budgets and schedules for projects.

• Track monthly progress, including generation of cost/schedule reports and charts, variance analysis reports, ad-hoc reporting as required. Compile a monthly report for management.

• Review processes for improvement opportunities.

• Support FMD, Utilities, research programs, and other stakeholders to help projects successfully meet their milestones.

• Communicate regularly with all stakeholders to ensure teams are informed about project milestones, spending, and upcoming schedule issues and impacts.

Basic Qualifications:

• A BS/BA degree with a minimum of two years relevant experience.

• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Oracle Primavera, MS Excel, and custom system and report development.

• Strong communications skills, with the ability to successfully interact with DOE, project reviewers, senior laboratory management and other project staff members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A BS/BA degree in project or construction management, business, science, engineering or equivalent.

• Completed project management training and/or certification.

• Good understanding of and experience with: Oracle Primavera, Deltek Cobra or similar cost processors, risk analysis and simulation software, MS Excel, change control applications, and custom system and report development.

• Previous experience with similar projects.

• Master's degree in project or construction management, business, engineering or equivalent.
