What does Brice Construction & Design LLC do?

Brice Construction & Design is a subsidiary of Calista Brice LLC, a lifecycle construction group currently comprised of 17 companies, offering construction services in every phase of the construction cycle. We plan, manage, equip, transport, build, and provide cleanup services. With a broader network, Calista Brice streamlines projects and reduces inefficiencies in the construction cycle.

Brice Construction & Design is a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) 8(a) entity. We offer heavy civil construction services that include roadways, bridges, utilities, and marine construction.

What can you expect?

As the Project Controls Manager, you are responsible for assisting the construction team with all aspects of technical and administrative functions to ensure efficient and effective operations in the construction organization. Your personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline driven, so you must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistently high-quality level in a high-pressure environment.

How will you do it?

  • Manage and oversee project controls for construction projects and overall company financials.

  • Participate and lead monthly financial close out program, including projections, future work tracking, and work in progress (WIP) review.

  • Forensically review financials, as needed, to identify and correct accounting errors and reduce future financial impacts.

  • Create and modify project budget, cost projection, cost allocations, and cost tracking templates.

  • Communicate cost alterations to project teams.

  • Manage revenues by working closely with project managers to ensure invoices are prepared accurately, approved by the client in a timely manner, and properly submitted internally.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for capital purchases, execute payment, define deprecation schedule, and communicate asset list updates.

  • Develop a project control system to track costs and percent completion to ensure projects are executed on time and within budget.

  • Change operating practices based on analysis of project expenditures and determinations for efficient purchasing, logistics management, and subcontract management.

  • Collaborate on developing cost estimates and technical approaches for responding to Request for proposals (RFPs).

  • Work closely with the Contracts Manager on construction related contract/subcontract agreements.

  • Upon contract award, set up the project with accounting and electronic project files.

  • Ensure copies of contracts/subcontracts are filed in project files.

  • Ensure the Project Controls Coordinator correctly codes subcontract/vendor invoices and compares/tracks them against subcontracts or purchase orders.

  • Participate in updating and maintaining the project schedules.

  • Conduct vendor and internal audits to review database records and documents' accuracy, quality, and completeness.

  • Visit project sites to help the project management team manage project financials.

  • Act as company in-house Excel, Heavy Job, and Costpoint trainer and administrator.

  • Act as liaise between corporate accounting and project offices.

  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises the Project Controls Coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced project control experience required. A diverse background in operations, contract administration, and project management is preferred.

  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel. Costpoint and Heavy Job Experience preferred.

  • Knowledgeable in job costing and accounting procedures.

  • Ability to draft and review contract required deliverables.

  • Knowledge of computer-based construction and scheduling programs.

  • Knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software, scheduling software, job costing software, and word processing software. Microsoft packages experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of construction industry vocabulary and terms.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, business partners, and clients through written and verbal methods.

  • Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others; ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner.

  • Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, make decisions based on available information and use judgment and discretion.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and correctly prioritize those tasks.

  • Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.

  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.

  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate project plans and drawings.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.

Who is Brice Construction & Design LLC looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering discipline, or Business-related degree.

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience working in Project Controls and Construction Operations.

  • Prior experience in Project Management, Contract Administration, and Procurement processes.

  • Valid state driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Construction & Design's Driving Policy.

  • Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
