IDS is currently seeking a Project Controller to become part of the Project Control Team in its Arlington, Virginia office. The Project Controller will manage the contractual and account life cycle of a portfolio of contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Run Project Status Reports and Job Cost Transaction Reports to monitor costs and maintain project budget.

  • Approve and properly classify costs charged to contracts.

  • Process timecards, payroll, & PTO accruals.

  • Setup and maintain contract Work Breakdown Structure and employee Time & Expense entry in ERP system.

  • Prepare and enter monthly cost accruals.

  • Generate Bills/Run Revenue.

  • Review direct costs regularly and identify potential issues, recommend corrective actions, and provide support to mitigate errors and risk.

  • Provide financial support and analysis to the Project Control Manager.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.A., ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree.

  • One-to-three (1-3) years of overall related professional experience, preferred.

  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience with government contracting, financial reporting, and analysis.

  • Knowledge of full contract-life cycle support to ensure effective financial management of contracts, and GAAP and FAR principles. Knowledge of policy, compliance, and risk requirements for government contracting. Ability to use financial and accounting (ERP) systems.

  • Experience with financial management of complex contracts.

  • Ability to use the complete Microsoft Office suite with extensive expertise in Excel including the ability to create formulas and pivot table.

  • Experience with JAMIS Prime is preferred but not required.

  • Employee must be flexible regarding work hours as they will vary based upon work needs with foreign subsidiaries.

Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Most positions require ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

The successful candidate is familiar with the compliance requirements and accounting complexities of federal government contracting. Efficient multi-tasking is required to support a portfolio of projects that are geographically dispersed. The Project Controller will partner with project managers and gain a detailed understanding of project activities and milestones. Ability to forecasting the financial implications of business decisions is key to success in this role. Expectations include excellent communication skills for presentation of financial information to all levels of management, including C-suite. * Assist throughout the project lifecycle; including kick-off meeting, project set up, revenue recognition and compliance, budgeting, forecasting and monthly variance analysis for all contract types (CP, T&M, FFP, FPAF). * Compile, report, and analyze the financial performance of a project portfolio and communicate findings and issues to key stakeholders. * Participate in monthly close process to include accrual submission, posting of revenue and attendance of close meetings with the corporate finance team. * Ensure compliance with applicable internal policies and procedures, FAR, CAS, GAAP and contractual requirements. * Partner with Accounting to research, document, and respond to internal and external audit requests. * Monitor funding and support modification proposals, procurement and billing/collection activities. * Promote timely vendor invoice receipt and approve for payment. * Monitor projects' labor, subcontractor, and ODC transactions, weekly, and identify/resolve errors. * Train project managers to interpret financial reports and to consider project-type-specific financial performance improvement levers. * Host cross-functional project review meetings to inform stakeholders of project performance and identify areas for improvement. * Participate in pricing and proposal of project extensions and recompete opportunities. * Perform what-if analysis for project management decision support.
