Our New York City office is seeking a Project Controls Specialist (Scheduler) to work on CMCI projects. The candidate will support projects with clients such as MTA NYCT, LIRR, MNR, etc. This position will be based in the main office in Manhattan, but will work remote with the need to visit field offices and project sites as needed.


  • Participate in logistical and delivery and work force planning with project personnel, and incorporate into a CPM schedule using Primavera P6 Software.

  • Review and provide comment on contractor prepared baseline, update and recovery schedules using Primavera P6 Software.

  • Attend project progress and schedule meetings.

  • Accurately track contractor work progress related to schedule.

  • Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all project stages.

  • Identify improvements for schedule procedures, templates and products, and refer ideas to appropriate line manager.


  • BS in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

  • 5 years of experience in a Project Engineering or Project Management role on commercial construction projects.

  • 2+ years of construction project scheduling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have strong understanding of construction scheduling processes.

  • Familiarity with and knowledge of Primavera P6.

  • Certifications with PMI or AACEI is preferable

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs required.

  • Successful candidates will have strong organization skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.

Responsibilities * Manage multiple concurrent projects of various topics and complexity * Develop, manage and maintain project schedules and budgets * Lead development of project deliverables and provide quality control * Manage financial progress through timely submittal of invoices and progress reports and initiation of change orders for out of scope services * Prepare and deliver technical reports, analyses, and presentations * Prepare and maintain resource plans * Manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, and scientists * Take an active role in business development and identify planning prospects * Represent VHB at regional conferences, seminars, and industry events * Manage and prepare technical and cost proposals * Coordinate on teaming decisions with the Regional Director of Transit & Rail and other Regional Directors * Take an active role in the development and mentoring of the Transit & Rail group staff Skills and Abilities * Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills * Excellent public speaking skills and business development skills * Excellent project management skills * Strong capability in use of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint * Capability in the use of project management applications such as MS Project or Primavera Qualifications * BS in Civil Engineering or related field * 15+ years of progressive professional technical experience in rail/transit engineering with at least 10 years of project management experience * PE licensure * Demonstrated and progressive relationship with NY-area clients including NYCT, MTA, LIRR, Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT, and PATH * Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and programs * Proven ability to manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, and scientists Please submit applications online.
