Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our team in Springfield, MA.

Our ideal candidate will become a member of a talented team of professionals that focus on delivering outstanding client service, helping them program, plan, and deliver their Public-School building and engineering projects. In this role you will use your knowledge of project management to take projects from inception to completion, working closely with clients and end users, demonstrating a strong understanding of the process. We're looking for candidates that want to change the industry through determination, education, and leadership.


In this role, your primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Project management of Public-School projects through all project phases: planning; preconstruction, construction, commissioning.

  • Capital planning and financial reporting on projects assigned

  • Manage projects to completion on-time, within budget and within the scope of work.

  • Produce reports and briefings for project stakeholders

  • Develop cost estimates that include conceptual estimates prior to design as well as detailed time and materials estimates from design documents

  • Develop pre-bid CPM schedules from design documents

  • Perform capital planning and financial reporting for programs and projects

  • Develop design and construction contracts. APD experience a plus

  • Manage A/E selection, construction bidding, negotiations, and contract administration

  • Develop and make presentations to groups to include clients and public meetings

  • Establish a culture of health and safety on the project


  • Our ideal candidate has strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant Project Management, Construction Management or related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing cost estimates is required.

  • Experience creating project schedules is required.

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Project, or Primavera is strongly preferred.

  • MCPPO Certification is a plus.

VIEW JOBS 4/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-09T00:00 Responsibilities Purpose: Manage and execute the activities associated with construction and welding in accordance with all applicable requirements, ensuring safe, reliable service to customers in an efficient, economical manner. Facilitates training modules between engineering and construction to improve project planning and cost estimating. Coordinates with construction manager, field operations front-line leaders and scheduling leaders to ensure cost-effective construction. Essential Responsibilities: * Collaborates with field operations/construction services schedulers, field operations leaders, and construction managers to ensure internal/external crew efficiencies are achieved. * Works across geographic boundaries whenever necessary to perform construction coordinator duties. * Supports construction FLLs in coaching and developing a geographically dispersed workforce. * Actively interacts with contract crew leaders to ensure contractor performance adheres to established metrics and policies/procedures. * Assists construction coordinators in the preparation of contractor daily progress reports (i.e. invoices). * Consults with construction coordinators to determine the best construction practices (i.e. directional boring, trenching, etc.) is employed for the project. * Works with construction coordinators to monitor materials needed and used on the job. * Attends pre-construction meetings with local municipalities to protect the interest of the company. * Notifies schedulers when there is a need for welder, tapping crew, directional bore crew, etc. * Manages capital construction, improves capital spending efficiency and return on invested capital. * Implements best practices while driving functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence. * Partners with engineers and engineering technicians to develop best-value construction practices and cost estimations for large pipeline projects. * Supports a project management and planning culture. * Promotes the necessary environment for effective internal customer satisfaction and collaboration. * Assures activities and processes are implemented to ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective delivery of service to customers. * Effective use of technology, tools and planning techniques to improve process results. * Fosters and promotes valued relationships with government entities, industry associates, company affiliates, and contractors. * Promotes and assures safe working environment and public safety. * Executes construction services strategies. * Manages pipeline construction contracts. * Assures effective coordination scheduling and resource planning of construction jobs and welding resources in consort with Field Operations resource planners. * Manages efficient, safe and quality construction of new and replacement mains and services, joint sealing, catholic protection, service tie-overs. * Ensures timely and accurate invoice payments to contractor. * Monitors appropriate contractor qualifications and certifications and ensures proper documentation. * Collaborates with peers to ensure that operating standards and construction practices comply with policies and procedures. * Design and manage strategic construction objectives. Qualifications Required for Selection: * Minimum of Five (5) years underground utility construction experience * Demonstrated knowledge of gas operations including gas flow, * construction, contracts and emergency response * Knowledge of local, state, and federal operating codes * Strong knowledge of policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to construction * Valid Drivers License * Ability to interpret construction drawings and operations maps * Working knowledge of operations support systems, i.e. WMS, etc. * Experience working with pipeline contractor Preferred for Selection: * Leadership experience * Construction Inspection/Welding experience * Operations Engineer/Engineering Technician experience * Experience in estimating project costs and creating job orders Education Level Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
