We are looking for someone to lead the Long Beach, CA office. Must have strong people management skills, ability to coach, mentor mid-level and junior staff. Will be responsible for bringing in new business/new clients, writing and implementing marketing plans for the firm.

From a technical perspective we are open to candidates with an air quality background or remediation background. Ideal candidates will have experience working on projects for Ports, Builders, Developers, Brownfield, Aerospace, DOD, Caltrans - would be a good to have to open new business in this space.

Must have experience managing multiple task orders within on call contracts.

Must have experience managing a portfolio of projects.

Must have good communication skills, written and oral.

  • Air Compliance:
  • Modeling including health risk and dispersion calculations
  • Permitting for new and existing facilities
  • Calculations of emission/greenhouse gas reductions
  • Special studies as necessary for the CEQA/NEPA process or similar.
  • Development/implementation of ‘beyond compliance’ programs to reduce air emissions
  • Experience with both mobile and stationary sources is desired
  • General Compliance:
  • Remediation Design, Implementation, and M&O
  • Hazardous waste requirements
  • SPCC requirements
  • Storm water/wastewater permitting
  • Compliance auditing

Candidates should have proven ability to navigate local, state, and federal regulations combined with the ability to lead labor/material estimates, proposals and business development. If you are the successful candidate, you will provide client and project management, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive project work.



Requirements:
  • BS in engineering or related environmental science
  • (15) years of relevant experience in California
  • Strong consulting and problem solving skills
  • (5) years of managerial experience
  • Overnight travel will be required

Priority will be given to candidates with strong existing market connections and/or clients

The job Oversees and manages small to medium (based on scale and complexity) projects from initiation through completion under limited supervision as directed by the PMO Director and Project Sponsor and/or Senior Executive Team. You will Initiates, plans, executes, monitors, controls, and closes small to medium scale projects, including stand-alone projects, projects within larger programs and/or multiple unrelated projects simultaneously. Manages activities within the standard PMI process groups including; initiation, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling and closing. Utilizes PMO project methodology, tools and templates to uphold project-to-project consistency, excellence in standards across projects and principles of practice within the PMO. Initiates project by working with sponsor(s) to develop project scope including goals, objectives, milestones, and deliverables. Works with the project sponsor(s), business manager, functional managers in gathering business requirements, current state assessments and/or project requirements to develop preliminary project documents. Develops and manages the activities within most PMBOK knowledge areas including but not limited to; integration, scope, time/ schedule development, cost, quality planning, project team, communications, risk and procurement. This includes defining tasks, and developing; high-level and detailed timelines and project plans and other project artifacts. Executes the project by leading the work of the project resources (internal and/or external) in a matrixed environment. Ensures project team is actively participating, collaborating and coordinating amongst team members as well as with other projects and/or business operations. Monitors and controls all aspects of the project by measuring progress and correcting course when project goes beyond scope or is not meeting goals and objectives. Ensures project remains on timeline by managing schedules and resources and removing barriers. Works with project team, sponsors and/or PMO Director to negotiate changes such as scope, timeline, deliverables and integration points. Provides consultative services to project team for project management, organizational and/or cross-functional discussions. Ensures project is identifying and considering all potential impacts throughout the company and raises these considerations if project team has not identified them. Provides consultative services to other projects that have integration points and/or impact to project to ensure collaboration and efficiency between projects. Manages project risk by identifying, planning for, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate or minimize risks and monitor findings, and monitoring risks throughout the project. Appropriately escalates risks and/or issues to Director, PMO and steering committee and/or sponsor(s) as needed. Facilitates or assists with conflict resolution within project team. Closes project by developing closing documents and transition plans to support ongoing operations and ensures transfer of knowledge within the organization. May manage third party resources, budgets and/or invoices.
