Minimum Qualifications You must have a bachelor's degree* or higher and three years of experience in job architecture/position classification or compensation*.
Substitutions: A J.D. or master's degree* in the experience areas listed may substitute for one year of the experience. A Ph.D.* in the experience areas listed may substitute for two years of the experience.
Qualifying experience in job architecture includes:
Evaluating job descriptions to determine the appropriate title.
Drafting title specifications reflecting position duties, responsibilities, and minimum requirements.
Providing expert advice to business leaders on job architecture/position classification and compensation issues.
Conducting research on job architecture/position classification and compensation; and recommending solutions.
Reviewing organizational structures and making recommendations on job architecture/position classification to optimize business effectiveness.
Qualifying experience in compensation includes:
Developing and implementing compensation systems structures that are fair, internally consistent, and competitive with market.
Participating and conducting salary surveys and benchmarking jobs appropriately.
Conducting market scans to ensure the competitiveness of compensation packages and making sound recommendations.
Assessing compensation practices to uncover and rectify gaps based on gender, race, or other non-job factors.
Participating in salary planning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Compensation Professional credential and experience in unionized environment preferred
Good written and oral communications skills
Proficiency in MS Excel
Working knowledge of statistics
Duties Description The Office of Classification and Compensation administers a sound and responsive position classification and compensation plan that ensures fairness, equity, and sensitivity to market conditions; and helps the State attract and retain talent. As the Department carries out key initiatives to transform the way services are delivered to partner agencies and to the public, this position will play an important role in ensuring the success of these modernization efforts.
Reporting to the Principal Compensation Analyst, the incumbent will participate in the implementation of a quantitative job evaluation system, and analysis of the State's total compensation structure. The Project Assistant duties in Classification &Compensation Division will include but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in researching job evaluation and total compensation issues to inform the Department's decision making on these topics.
Assist in gathering State workforce data to be analyzed by contractor.
Participating in reviewing the existing job content questionnaire and revising or replacing it to reflect current work environment.
Participating in defining requirements for the creation of an online job content questionnaire.
Helping determine the feasibility of integrating job content survey data into online job evaluation tool.
Assisting in drafting briefing documents for Department management, agency human resources staff, unions, employees, and other parties on the job evaluation and total compensation project.
Drafting a variety of documents including background reports on the state's job evaluation and total compensation structure.
