Job Title: Project Assistant
Grade: 12
Salary: $47,475 - $56,735
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Project Assistant position for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry department at the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI).
The Project Assistant will be involved in the daily operations of the Children's Day Unit and Youth Treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders Program. They will conduct telephone screenings to identify eligible youth to receive clinical services in these programs which includes individual, group, and family therapy and participate in the milieu of the day program by co-leading groups and supporting activities in the classroom and gym. They also will provide referrals for youth not able to be seen at the CDU and provide support for clinical staff programming in scheduling didactics and coordinate meetings. Lastly, they may conduct screenings to identify youth who can potentially participate in future research studies evaluating effectiveness of treatments for child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. The ideal candidate must have prior experience working with children and families in a clinical setting; be well-organized; have good attention to detail; have excellent interpersonal skills; and must be a team player. The candidate must also possess proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient recruitment and screening for psychiatric disorders and educational difficulties
Support externship training and clinical staff
Assist with organizing clinical programs
Participate in milieu activities such as groups, gym, and art
Maintenance of website for programs
Supervision of volunteer staff who participate in milieu and CDU classroom
Support research studies that are being conducted in collaboration with the CDU when studies are running
Subject recruitment and screening
Organization of subject visits and study materials
Assist in select clinical assessments and coordination of self-report instruments
Manage IRB protocols
Manage REDCap database
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field.
Must have minimum of 1 year experience as a research assistant in an academic or healthcare setting; experience with children and families in clinical research setting preferred.
Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with a pediatric clinical population, preferably youth with an anxiety or mood disorder.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Familiarity with SPSS and Access is preferred
Experience with Redcap data management system is preferred
