Overview

The Orlando, Florida office of a regional, AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking qualified applicants for a Project Assistant position working directly with paralegals and attorneys on affordable housing transactions. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate from an accredited 4 year college or university who is considering law school or wants to learn more about the legal profession and is interested in working for 2 years prior to pursuing further education.

Responsibilities

Tasks performed may include:

  • Assisting attorneys and paralegals with all aspects of affordable housing transactions;

  • Performing basic document drafting and preparation;

  • Handling administrative duties to support the legal team in its day to day activities in a wide variety of legal areas;

  • Performing basic research and compiling data;

  • Organizing, uploading, and maintaining digital case files;

  • Preparing closing binders;

  • Assisting with special projects; and

  • Timekeeping.

Qualifications

  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines;

  • Ability to keep track of many details and tasks at the same time and adapt quickly to changing deadlines;

  • Familiarity with using computers for organizing and maintaining documents and data;

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to document and present information to paralegals and attorneys;

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;

  • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet business needs;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); and

  • Experience in an office environment is a plus.

Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager-Multifamily for their Construction Department. The right candidate will participates in the management of multiple multifamily construction projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: * Represent and report to the project managers the status of the projects, verify DHI procedures are followed, and construction schedules are maintained * Review and discuss drawings prior to field release pertaining to constructability, value engineering opportunities, project sequencing, and design ideas for added value to effectively conduct future field visits and inspections on behalf of project managers * Review subcontractor submittals and provide guidance internally and externally for necessary modifications * Collaborate with project managers to gather and qualify bidders for final approval * Participate in selecting contracting vendors with the project managers including drafting scope to be included in contract document * Issue, track and verify correct plan revisions are given to subcontractors * Review qualifying, track, and verify change order requests are submitted to the division president for approval * Visit and inspect projects daily to ensure installation of specified materials, review installation methods against product submittals, review the construction of the projects against the intent of the drawings, and verify the flow and status of the projects against the schedule * Observe, gather and maintain thorough and accurate data from project visits and inspections for attendance and input at all critical meetings * Meet with jurisdictional officials including city and county staff members and inspectors during the installation and inspection of infrastructure, construction pads, landscaping, hardscaping, irrigation systems, signage, parks and amenities. * Assist the project managers by implementing and overseeing all aspects of the development process for infrastructure installation, preparation of construction pads, project landscaping, parking lots and amenities * Must have a vehicle, a valid driver's license and be willing to travel overnight. * Regular and reliable attendance * Work with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and consultants to solve and mitigate challenges during construction * Participate in the determination of preliminary and revised construction schedules * Ensure field teams have everything needed for day-to-day operations and highlight any items forthcoming have not been contracted and approved * Deliver to property management organized construction closeout documents for review and archiving. Provide missing or requested documentation pertaining to project * Trouble-shoot, solve problems, and ensure compliance pertaining to DHI policies regarding subcontractors, safety, environmental compliance, municipalities, etc. * Enforce safety and environmental compliance * Verify necessary safety and environmental documentation is completed, up-to-date, and accessible * Oversee and resolve warranty issues as needed * Contribute project data from project visits to finalize project job cost to utilize as a historical tool Education and/or Experience * Associate's Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school; Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred * Proficient with technologies and applications used in business and on construction sites, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling software. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral form or via DRH applications. * While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. * The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
