CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Baltimore City Health Department is seeking a Project Assistant for its U Choose Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. The position is a four-year assignment in which the Project Assistant will work 36 hours per week. The Project Assistant will primarily be responsible for assisting with program coordination for the U Choose project. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. The candidate will be a non-civil service employee with the Division of Youth Wellness and Community Health's Bureau of School Health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with developing and coordinating program activities for the various School Health School Based Health Centers within the Bureau of School Health
Conducting program curricula/presentations to educate and inform youth.
Assists with the development and implementation of a Recruitment and Implementation plan for the UChoose curriculum.
Serves as a health education resource person.
Engages youth in schools to establish relationships for recruitment purposes.
Documents distribution of client incentives
Assists with completing required checklists, and supportive services assessments.
Participates in project meetings.
Assists with all project evaluation tasks and monthly reporting requirements.
Assists with maintaining record keeping and data collection.
Assists with meeting all performance measures of the project.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have one year of experience in coordinating, monitoring and processing cases involving the provision of health, social, vocational or rehabilitation services to clients or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in program development or coordination.
Successful candidates should have an interest in working with youth in schools and community settings in Baltimore City and have a vested interest in advocating for access to reproductive health services and health education.
