MWA Architects is seeking a licensed architect to join our Portland infrastructure design studio. The right person for our team is responsible, organized, and enthusiastic about this exacting and technical work-type. You will be performing work that requires design talent, adaptability, attention to detail, the ability to communicate well with the design team, and a passion for creating well-designed projects. Your responsibilities:

  • You will lead the project team in design concepts and technical design solutions
  • You will manage the coordination of project consultants, lead programming and planning phases, and provide effective design leadership to team members on multiple projects
  • You will lead the development of technical documents for permit submission, coordinate materials and products with the specification writer, perform building and development code research, and lead construction administration efforts
  • You will also assist with project management tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Oregon architecture licensure
  • A Bachelors degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • At least six years of design experience within a firm/studio environment with at least two years of experience in highly technical project types, such as industrial, laboratory, or administrative, maintenance
  • Proficiency in Revit, 3D computer modeling, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and related programs
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, Navisworks and Bentley Open Buildings (formerly AECOsim) applications
  • Permanent US residency or US citizenship

  • Experienced in design conceptualization and communication
  • Experienced in managing and coaching other team members
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in construction administration
  • Interested in sustainable and resilient design; LEED, or other green accreditation

The ideal candidate is passionate about finding design solutions for the affordable housing shortage. This person will be an integral part of our studio, utilizing both technical and design skills during the design process, and nurturing our relationships with existing clients.
