Vanderbilt University's Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is seeking a highly organized, self- motivated, creative, and collaborative communications professional and project manager to serve as the Project and Content Manager for Campaign Initiatives. This position contributes project management expertise, content creation, and delivery of high-quality communication tools and collateral in support of Vanderbilt's Dare to Grow fundraising campaign.

This role requires a skilled communications specialist and project manager who can contribute to the campaign communications strategy. The Project and Content Manager must be able to coordinate the efforts of staff across departments and units, anticipate challenges, creatively problem solve, keep colleagues on task and projects on track, and deliver results on time. This person should have proven experience as a writer, team player and creative problem solver who can manage multiple projects simultaneously in a complex environment.

Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists Vanderbilt University in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals. DAR is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching and research programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and effectively project manage all campaign communications projects, including the campaign website, event invitations and communications, solicitations as part of campaign-event follow-up, internal and external newsletters, videos, and print and digital collateral.

  • Serve as liaison with the campaign events manager and external vendors to coordinate the review and approval process of events content.

  • In close collaboration with Development Communications and MarComm colleagues, project manage gift announcements to assure they are written, circulated for appropriate approvals, and distributed across appropriate channels including web and social media.

  • Maximize campaign communications content across multiple events and channels.

  • Collaborate with DAR and MarComm colleagues to identify stories and other content that support the goals of the campaign and manage the production of content and communications as necessary.

  • Track and report metrics of campaign communications and make appropriate recommendations based on findings.

  • Coordinate internal communications regarding the campaign, ensuring that colleagues are kept aware of all campaign-related efforts and communications.

  • Coordinate campaign presence and manage review and approvals of Dare to Grow language on the Vanderbilt website, in the Vanderbilt magazine, and various other communications.

  • Assist as needed with multi-city roadshow event series to promote campaign.

  • Bring forward industry best practices and a willingness to explore new technologies.

  • Responsibly manage university resources.

  • Practice and uphold departmental and institutional policies regarding confidential information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Relationships: This position does not have supervisory responsibility. This position reports administratively to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Development Communications with additional reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Development, Campaign Strategy and Operations, and Global Philanthropy.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent work experience, is required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent education and work experience, is required.

  • A background working in the communications field is required.

  • A minimum of three years of project management experience is essential, with additional experience preferred.

  • Prior experience working on comprehensive fundraising campaigns is preferred.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, as well as superior organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in office software tools and experience with relevant project management tools.

  • The ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, problem solve, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • The ability to learn new concepts quickly and adeptly.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.

  • This is a hybrid role, based in Nashville.
