Primary Purpose

Assume all project management responsibilities relating to material traceability, accounting, document verification, and all other project closeout responsibilities from the project handoff from construction back to planning. Ensure all federal/state guidelines are met and coordinate with engineering firms and various internal departments to complete the project reconciliation process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities leading to the successful completion of tasks including, scoping, permitting, project governance and design for project closeout. Enforce project closeout (Bundle A/ Bundle B) policies and procedures. Review material traceability documentation and verify that all documents meet the specifications and requirements laid out in the gas standards.

  • Act as liaison between SCG Engineers (Design Drafting and Pipeline Design) and Project Managers/Engineering firms to provide instruction and guidance to designs/drawings and design data sheets to verify that material strength meets company requirements for pipe grade, wall thickness, and maximum operating pressures. Direct Project Managers and outside engineering services to creating completion sketches/as-builts and survey data files. Review and approve engineering designs/drawings

  • Lead post-construction meetings to gain a greater understanding of project involvement and review field documentation (weld maps, inspector dailies, redlines, PCMR's, hydrotest documentation, etc.).

  • Gather data and prepare project packages. Review projects for acceptance and assess accuracy and completeness by verifying field documentation.

  • Recommend modifications to Gas Standards that reflect regulatory changes, and create new policies and procedures, or provide recommendations to altering/clarifying existing project closeout and design procedures. Participate in, and provide technical input to, review of proposed changes in regulatory requirements affecting codes and standards.

  • Create budget forecasts for project closeout purposes

  • Manage a team of 7-8 external specialists aiding in data mining and project verification.

  • Respond to CPUC and Intervenor data requests


Bachelors' degree in business administration, engineering, project management or related field or equivalent field operations work experience and applicable field/technical training is desired.


  • Minimum four (4) years related experience.

  • Knowledge of SCG accounting requirements.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to make sound decisions regarding project closeout activities.

  • Basic understanding of planning and construction activities.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for Gas operations.

  • Must be able to analyze complex data, manage projects and have knowledge of Gas Distribution operations.

  • Must possess strong listening, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Requires very strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership ability to effectively work with employees at all levels as well as to lead and inspire a diverse workforce through a dynamic work environment.

  • Must display versatility, quick problem solving, handle multiple demands, and ability to work effectively with a variety of individual personalities.

  • Must have knowledge of company computing resources including MS Office and SAP.
