Position Summary: The Senior Accounting Manager reports directly to the Head of Record to Report (solid line). In this role, the Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating the accounting function of Airbus Americas/Airbus Group HQ, concerning primarily with the accuracy and maintenance of the ledger accounts, and the quality on-time delivery of resultant financial statements in accordance with US GAAP/IFRS and in compliance with the group accounting policies. Work closely with controlling community with standards setting, variance monitoring, cost-of-sales accounting, manufacturing accruals and inventory valuation. As a Senior Accounting Manager, provide leadership in a variety of challenging ways, make significant contributions towards the transformation of Finance shared services, take responsibility for the prioritization of work within the department, act as a mentor to staff within the department, and deliver resourceful, compelling and financial sound analytics. In addition, collaborate across Finance communities (Controlling, Tax, Treasury and Financial Systems) and Operating Units and throughout other organizational functions for all areas of responsibility. The position also oversees internal/external audits and timely completion of yearly audits. He/she is responsible for the Airbus Americas consolidation process, consolidation of subsidiaries and affiliates, including the sub-representation letter in accordance to the Airbus Group requirements. In addition this role, will be responsible for processes and internal controls documentation and recommending improvements in internal controls and process. Primary Responsibilities: * General Accounting: 25% * Establish policies, procedures and processes as required for all aspects of Corporate Accounting; evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall Accounting function. Implement and manage team goals to ensure strategies and directives of department are carried out and in accordance with department and company objectives. * Monitoring status and completion of all tasks, ensuring timely completion in accordance with established deadlines, and reporting to Finance leadership and other internal and external parties. * Working to evolve and fine tune business controls which dictate accounting/financial practices and policies that support a rapidly growing and new business operating units. * Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately, timely and conform to adopted Airbus accounting procedures and APA. * Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the cost accounting portion of month-end closing journal entries and reconciliation of related balance sheet accounts. Work collaboratively with the controlling community and business units to develop cost model. * Research unusual and complex accounting transactions, including new accounting pronouncements, business combinations, and determine and implement solutions to them. * Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities. At times, this may include involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions/dispositions. * Responsible for proper timing and application of revenue recognition rules. This currently entails a real-time review of each instrument order and its terms for changes needed and determination of proper timing of revenue recognition. * Preparation of sub-representation letter and ensuring that the highest accounting standards are maintained including those related to account reconciliation, stewardship of assets and integrity of financial transactions. * Financial Reporting : 25% * Responsible for compiling monthly Airbus Americas/Airbus Defense & Space financial package, ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under U.S. GAAP and IFRS, and adoption of new standards and inter-company accounting, financial reporting into the group consolidation system. * Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing company policies and procedures to maintain and protect company assets. * Collaborating with and supporting the tax department for the accurate and timely delivery of key regulatory and compliance information including annual transfer pricing study. * Finance One-Roof: 25% * Establish procedures and processes in alignment with the Finance One-Roof accounting initiatives and executes on strategies and directions. * Facilitate and drive process standardization and optimization across US entities, closely aligning with FAS Shared Service process owners. * Continuous improvement and requiring a customer-focused mindset. * As a leader of change management build new scalable/repeatable business processes and financial controls that will hold operations more accountable and improve/fix current processes. * Engage and partner with the leadership team to provide them with dashboards and metrics necessary to make more accurate decisions and improve day to day business operations; counsel accordingly. * Team Lead Accounting Shared Services Team: 25% * Manage direct reports responsible for: Monthly Closing & Reporting, General Ledger, Fixed Asset Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Inter- Company Accounting, Accounts Payable and Travel Expenses. Synchronize each function to support processing stream deadlines, payments, recordings, cut-off dates and financial closings. * Establish policies, procedures and processes as required for all aspects of Corporate Accounting; evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall Accounting function. Implement and manage team goals to ensure strategies and directives of department are carried out and in accordance with department and company objectives. * Working to evolve and fine tune business controls which dictate accounting/financial practices and policies that support a rapidly growing and new business operating units. * Mentor and develop all team members. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned: * Manages the preparation of FACTS+ data packages, consolidated Financials & related external reporting. Ensure that data packages are delivered on time, to quality expectations and conform to Airbus reporting requirements. * Ensure implementation of SAP system enhancements and other financial tools that enhance operational effectiveness. * Support CFO and other management in special projects.
