Summary:
The Project Accountant will assist the accounting department with timely and accurate information reporting including taking responsibility for job cost tracking, construction payment draw management, balance sheet reconciliations, and research and communication with project managers on project status and payment approvals.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Handle general accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, job costing and general ledger posting
Process accounts receivable with a solid understanding of the construction billing and collections process
Responsible for the processing, reviewing, tracking, and general ledger posting of construction draws for multiple projects
Communicate with project managers, vendors, and external parties to manage draw requests/requirements
Assist with construction project analysis reporting
Assist with special projects as requested
Work with Project Managers on billing verification and collection matters
Manage job cost tracking, analysis and reporting
Enter project setup sheets and maintain filing system for projects
Assist with processing payroll and certified payroll when necessary
Interface with Project Managers and senior management on all aspects of construction accounting
Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers
Ensure completion of monthly payroll and subcontractor accruals
Assist in the monthly WIP schedule reconciliation
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in finance, accounting or relevant field
Minimum 3 years recent relevant experience
'Can do' attitude to accomplish goals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to soundly apply GAAP
Strong customer service skills
Expert level computer, excel and math skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in accounting for construction strongly preferred
Familiarity with Timberline accounting software
Physical Demands
Sedentary
Lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Work Environment
Limited
General office environment infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.)
