The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Programming Specialist to support inmate self-improvement and successful reintegration into society. This position assists in the implementation, training, and evaluation of programs and systems related to inmate self-improvement and reentry services. Monitors and evaluates programs to ensure conformance, integrity, and fidelity to established standards and objectives. Also provides support and training for Programs, Correctional Officer III (COII), and Community Reentry Officer Academies, contributing to the professional development of staff members.
Job Duties:
Promotes inmate rehabilitation and successful community reintegration by providing support and training for programs and academies
Conducts quality assurance activities and performance reporting related to other program areas as needed
Assists in the Implementation, training, and evaluation of programs and systems related to inmate self-improvement and reentry services
Provides support to other division areas
Participates in internal and external meetings, seminars, workshops, and initiatives to further Division and Department goals and activities
Provides input, support and any other assistance to further the Division and/or Department's mission
Routinely drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of program planning, management and design
Laws, rules, regulations and trends in the area of assignment
Local, state and federal programs and resources in the area of assignment
Advanced-level computers and software (Google and Microsoft Office)
Research methodologies
Modern correctional practices and evidence-based interventions understanding
Skill in:
Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
Verbal and written communications
Organizational and time management
Computer operates and software at an advanced level
Promoting inmate rehabilitation and successful community reintegration
Ability to:
Effectively deliver program curriculum in a classroom environment
Interact professionally with a wide variety of ADCRR staff and the public
Work in a prison environment
Work independently with minimal supervision

Collect and maintain statistical data and produce written reports
Maintain confidentiality
Work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
Adapt to changing priorities
Selective Preference(s):
Three (3) years of experience in assisting in the implementation, training, and evaluation of programs and systems related to inmate self-improvement and reentry services
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
