NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK

Minuteman High School is looking to hire a licensed or licensable Programming and Web Design Instructor. Minuteman teachers are responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction designed to foster the success of their students. Minuteman curriculum is deeply integrated among its career majors and academic disciplines. Individuals applying for this position will commit to work collaboratively with instructors within and across all disciplines as required to assist the Academy Development Team to implement an academy structure. Candidates will participate in Professional Learning Communities on school-wide goals and academic-vocational integration activities. Candidates will ensure personal professional growth on a yearly basis with a focus on continuous improvement in student learning. Candidates applying for this position must have at least 4 years of trade related work experience in the field of Programming and Web Development.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides learning experiences in Programming and Web Development, guided by the CTE Frameworks and district standards and requirements, while creating an environment that is conducive to student learning.

  • Actively participates in integration projects within the Engineering, Construction & Trades Academy, and throughout Minuteman to provide a quality education to all students.

  • Provide effective supervision of the Programming and Web Development students as deemed appropriate by administration.

  • Communicate effectively and on a timely fashion with parents and students.

  • Meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

  • Engage Students in various program activities, including but not limited to Skills USA competitions and other program-related activities at the local, district, state and national levels.

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.

  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regualr basis and provide progress reports.

  • Assist the administration in implementing district goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the District.

  • Attend staff or team meetings as required.

  • Demonstrate high-level knowledge of occupational materials, equipment, technology and processes.

  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

  • Identify pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve social, emotional, and learning problems.

  • Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as needed.

  • Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the building principal or designee.

  • COMPENSATION FLEXIBLE TO MEET THE NEED OF THE APPROPRIATE CANDIDATE.

  • THE DISTRICT WILL SUPPORT THE CANDIDATE IN THE PROCESS FOR EDUCATOR LICENSE.

  • The ideal candidate would be capable of designing, developing and debugging web pages using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

  • Associate degree or higher in the subject matter.

  • Programming experience with Python is essential. Knowledge of computer networking, Java and C++ is desirable.

  • The candidate should also be familiar with web hosting technologies (e.g., Apache, PHP, MySQL).

  • Preferred certification by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

  • Preferred 3 years teaching experience.

  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

  • Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Equipment Used: Copier, smart board, phone, computer. The work environment characteristics described here are representative to those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Demands: Located in the Programming and Web Development lab. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent on your feet working with and observing students while they work in the program area. On occasions, there may need to move or lift light articles.
