  • Coordinates and maintains both the Virginia Missing Children's Clearinghouse Program and the Virginia Missing Person's website.

  • Acts as liaison between the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and local law enforcement.

  • Responds to questions relating to proper reporting procedures.

  • Monitors Perceptive as daily routine for both missing children and adults for entries.

  • Collects and verifies all forms submitted by outside agencies.

  • Prepares a list of missing children and adults to validate information on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's and Virginia Missing Person websites.

  • Reviews, queries, validates, and enters data for all missing persons.

  • Leads contact for Virginia National Missing Children's Day poster contest.

  • Collects, analyzes, and maintains all statistical information for missing children and adults.

  • Archives documents into Perceptive software.

  • Generates and distributes statistical reports upon request.

  • Handles information for incoming Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

  • Attends meetings and updates the missing CAse management, Records management, Dispatch System (CaRDS) program with the Richmond Sheriff's Department.

  • Maintains the email accounts for all media, schools, and law enforcement agencies.

  • Files and maintains all alert information.

  • Receives and reviews all incoming tips.

  • Forwards any leads that are received by our Agency to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

  • Assists with completes all other duties as assigned by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Agency and state policies and procedures as related to the subject area or a program; of research and data collection methods and techniques; of data verification and analysis; and of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.

  • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, Exchange/Outlook, basic computer operations, automated systems, web-based applications, and databases.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret policies and procedures; to research and collect data; to review, and verify data for accuracy; to collect, analyze, maintain statistical information for a program; and to collect, interpret, summarize, and communicate information orally and in writing in English.

  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and to respond to inquiries from internal and external contacts; to multi-task and adapt to fast paced environments; to work independently and as a member of a team; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, educational representatives, government agencies, law enforcement, and the general public.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience indicative of good communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.

Additional Considerations

  • Progressively responsible administrative and technical experience in a criminal justice environment preferred.
