This position is the Program Support Assistant assigned to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare system Patient care services. This incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant for the Associate Chief Nurse (ACN) of operations and Nurse Recruiter.

Incumbent is also responsible for exercising independent decision making in the development and maintenance of spreadsheets to support the nursing recruitment process and to obtain greater efficiency in electronic processes. Enters and updates information into spreadsheet for efficient applicant-tracking on a regular basis.Incumbent manages and creates reports and forms from the spreadsheets and determines organization of the data in the spreadsheets, assigns names and definitions ot various records and fields. Oversees the security of the spreadsheets and controls the information placed in or deleted from same.
Incumbent is responsible for assembling materials presented to the Nurse Professional Standards Board(NPSB) concerning appointments.

Responsible for the systematic process of screening and evaluating nurse qualifications and other credentials, including licensure, registration, certification, required education, relevant training and experience and current competence. Maintains confidentiality of materials and/or matters in the office of patient care services and nurse recruitment. Incumbent collaborates with Human Resources staff in assisting with the credentialing process.
Incumbent autonomously resolves problems encountered by applicants or current staff inquiring about job opportunities. Notifies applicant, as warranted , of proper recruitment procedures, documentation requirements and application deadlines. Responds to inquiries regarding vacancies and the hiring/application process in a courteous manner. Able to navigate applicable websites and direct applicants to view current job postings.
Incumbent schedules nursing staff interviews and maintains timelines of the application flow process and days to hire.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. The work is sedentary.
Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items (medical records, computing devices, manuals, papers, books, small parts). The work requires manual dexterity for computer data entry, office machine operation and filing. However, in general, the work does not require unusual physical demands. The work does require emotional stability to resolve crisis situations
