Duties

  • Creates electronic files in an automated computer system and scans documents into Virtual VA System (VVA); assigns index numbers and verifies scanned image with index number to ensure accuracy.

  • Conducts quality reviews and verifies record integrity by ensuring clarity and legibility of scanned documents.

  • Cleans, and maintains scanners, ensuring correction of operation problems or equipment malfunction.

  • Prepares various written correspondence (e.g. reports of contact, letters, responses to FOIA requests, etc.) and provides information for statistical and narrative reports.

  • Receives, opens, reviews, and date stamps all incoming correspondence (claims and other miscellaneous mail); analyzes correspondence received and routes to the appropriate individual/location.

  • Explains basic VA benefit programs and entitlement criteria to fiduciaries and custodians, including assisting with completion of application and forms, confirming accuracy and completeness, and routing forms appropriately.

  • Develops straightforward evidence in conjunction with fiduciary claims and assists with the gathering of evidence for more complex cases.

  • Utilizes and inputs information into various automate systems associated with Fiduciary Hub operations.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/09/2024.

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the Program Support Assistant (Scanner), GS-0303-06 position, you must have at least one 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves: Experience that has provided particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. The performance of a variety of complex professional, administrative, and technical assignments.

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are/were federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 level. To support your claim of time in grade, you must submit your most recent appointment, promotion, or within grade increase SF-50 (not an award or general adjustment SF-50). Some applicants may have to submit more than one SF-50 to demonstrate their eligibility. See the required documents section for more information.

Work Schedule: Regular office hours; Monday- Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Alternate work schedules may be available.

Promotion Potential: This position is being recruited at the full performance level GS-06.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, and carrying of light items. The incumbent must be able to set up and tear down the VA computer equipment and transport this equipment securely between the official duty station to the alternate work sight as appropriate based on any established telework agreement. The incumbent would also be responsible for transporting the VA computer equipment to the Regional Office for all IT repairs that cannot be handled remotely.
