Reporting to the Head of Research Libraries and Archives, the Acquisitions Assistant will assist with library acquisitions and inter-library loan (ILL) functions.

Some duties include: Processing requests for book orders from curatorial and library staff using established book vendors; creating order records in OCLC WorldShare (the library's Integrated Library System); receiving new books and paying invoices; processing ILL requests in OCLC WorldShare; manage all library accounts and assist Head Librarian with annual budget; supervise library volunteers; perform reference desk duties as assigned.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in art history or related field. Experience with library databases.

Knowledge of MS Excel and word. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail.

Excellent organizational skills. At least 1 year of library experience preferred.

The Mr. and Mrs. Allan C. Balch Art Research Library maintains an extensive research-level collection of approximately 200,000 books, journals, and periodicals. This noncirculating collection consists of monographs on artists and specialized art subjects; art reference books; collection and exhibition catalogues of museums, galleries, and private collectors; scholarly periodicals in the field of art and related areas; current auction catalogues; artist files; and material in related fields of study.

Critical responsibilities include (a) the capture, synthesis and codification of learnings about Bain's partnership activities, (b) supporting the dissemination of these learnings throughout the organization and (c) contributing to the development of processes and tools to make the development and management of partnerships more effective and efficient. The role requires working effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including practice areas and product teams (especially Knowledge Specialists, Practice Area Consultants and Managers), and facilitating the transfer of knowledge about how to develop and manage partnerships across the organization. Department Overview: Bain's Business Development (BD) team leads development of the Bain Alliance Ecosystem (BAE), a curated network of partnerships that helps Bain clients and teams get better results faster. The BD team leads development and delivery of firm-level priority partnerships, in collaboration with partnership champions. The BD team facilitates development and delivery of all other partnerships through transaction support at key stage gates and one repeatable model for success. The BD team infuses the model with best practices distilled from all partnership development and delivery activity at Bain. Essential Functions: Capture, synthesize and codify learnings about Bain's partnership activities * Coordinate with other members of the BDT, practice areas, and product teams to draw out learnings from Bain's partnership activities * Synthesize and codify learnings into Powerpoint-based playbooks and how-to-guides; identify and escalate gaps in content * Identify and develop other high-impact content delivery mechanisms for both internal and external audiences (e.g., videos, webinars, etc.), in collaboration with the supervisor and other departments at Bain * Support the development of new templates and processes to make the development and management of partnerships more efficient * Maintain off-the-shelf materials about the Bain Alliance Ecosystem for use in client proposals Contribute to internal training and communication about Bain's partnership activities * Manage the BD team's Knowledge Management (GXC) page, including posting new content developed related to partnerships * Train Knowledge Specialists and other practice area members on how to maintain their partnership-specific pages on the Tools and Services Portal (an internal site the that complements the GXC to organize partnership-specific information) * Identify and contribute ideas to the development roadmap for the Tools and Services Portal to ensure that it meets the needs of both content owners (practice and product teams) and users (client-facing staff) * Support the development of internal training materials for Bain partners, practice and product teams, and other internal stakeholders * Support the activation of Bain's internal BD community (including mechanisms such as internal newsletters, internal blogs, affiliate calls, in-person meetings, etc.) Lead assigned activities to support BDT operations * Track and analyze metrics related to partnership activities, and support the development of new processes and/or systems to make this more efficient * Track and share learnings about the partnership activities of other firms, including Bain's competitors, other professional services organizations, and other organizations with active partnership programs * Contribute to the preparation for a variety of ad hoc stakeholder meetings, including: * Partnership strategy reviews with practice area/product teams * Risk assessment discussions for individual partnerships * Portfolio-wide updates to senior leadership, including the BDT Steering Committee * Manage the BDT Helpdesk email account (for internal inquiries about partnerships) and Bain.com inbox (for external inquiries about becoming a partner of Bain) and refer requests to the appropriate stakeholder, with support from supervisor Contribute to team culture and professional development * Cultivates strong collaboration and teamwork across the BDT and with external stakeholders * Contribute to the coaching/professional development of colleagues * Demonstrate flexibility with frequently changing demands and proactively communicate priorities, progress and issues to supervisor and broader BDT Other duties and special projects as required Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's degree * Minimum of 3-5 years work experience in a professional services firm or in a role supporting partnership operations/management or sales operations * Good business sense combined with structured problem-solving and analytical abilities * Operational or consulting experience in one or more of the following areas: partnership operations or management, sales operations knowledge management, consulting, marketing, research, finance, strategic planning, business development, product development, project management * Ability to synthesize and codify learnings across disparate groups within the organization and identify high-impact opportunities for improvement * Desire to work in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding professional environment, with an exceptional ability to juggle multiple priorities at one time * Strong communication and presentation skills * Strong project management skills * Attentive to detail and very organized, commitment to high-quality work * Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word * Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with all levels throughout the organization * Willingness to team with colleagues across the globe and in different time zones Preferred: * Experience in partnership operations and management * Experience defining, documenting, managing and improving processes * Strong aptitude for visual design, especially the creation of high-impact Powerpoint slides * Experience with collaboration technologies, such as Trello, Microsoft Teams, Smartsheets, etc. * Experience with Tableau IND123 Bain & Company Los Angeles CA
