Duties

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Enters Mental Health information into PCMM system, enrolls patients into the Mental Health teams, and assigns patients to the appropriate provider within the PCMM system.

  • Performs work in direct support of an administrative area such as management analysis or operating program analysis for the MH PCMM package.

  • Works with Team Leaders and Clinic Managers to formulate and conduct training and orientation for all staff, providers, and clerks involved with MH PCMM.

  • Provides assistance and technical level support from within the Mental Health Service or a comparable setting.

  • Performs work in support of general management and/or program analysis functions in which knowledge of the purpose, operation, methodology and techniques characteristic of specific management/program analysis functions is required: specifically for the MH PCMM, which includes interdisciplinary panels and maintenance of those panels.

  • Facilitates the completion of required Clinical Pertinence reviews for both Psychology and Prescribing clinical staff.

Assists, or provides training, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all administrative procedures related to PCMM operations, as well as work closely with the clerks in the Mental Health settings serving as a MH PCMM resource person, and will certify MH PCMM application users to ensure competency.

  • Serves as the MH Patient Care Management Module Coordinator (MH PCMMC) for Mental Health Teams within the Health Care System (HCS) service area. He/she works in collaboration with the team leaders, Clinical Managers, Providers, Nurses, Clerks, and the rest of the clinic staff, CBOC staff and contract providers and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the PCMM database for all of Mental Health throughout the hospital, outpatient clinics and CBOC's service area.

  • Works with Team Leaders and Clinic Managers to formulate and conduct training and orientation for all staff, providers, and clerks involved with MH PCMM. Provides expertise and advice to all providers involved with MH PCMM.

  • Obtains, organizes, files and retrieves reports and numerical data for use in preparing status reports, briefings and presentations.

  • Must adhere to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/20/2024.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Preferred Experience: Data entry and attention to detail.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience in healthcare delivery, extensive body of management and/or program analysis technical rules, guidelines, regulations and precedents and experience with the basic objectives and policies governing various management or program operations and skilled in the operation of a personal computer. Experience with public laws, VA Policy and regulations; health information records systems and of Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act, as they relate to the delivery of health care services; experience with all computer menus relating to processing data for patient related activities and determining legal eligibility of veterans; experience with safety and fire prevention rules and regulations, of facility and community disaster plans and procedures of VA-DoD Contingency Plan and facility's responsibilities.

OR

Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR a related LL.B. or J.D.

OR

Have a combination of both education and experience. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Work is usually sedentary but requires walking, standing and carrying of medium weight items, on occasion. Incumbent must have an even temperament and act in a professional manner during work performance.
