Duties

Duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

The major focus will be management of the service credentialing for the providers in Medicine Service which includes:

  • Tracking the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE), Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) status, clinical pertinence reviews and the provider records for each provider in Medicine Service.

  • Manages the credentialing and privileging requirements for Medicine Service.

  • Maintains and updates provider records with information required by Joint Commission.

  • Works closely with the Section Chiefs in Medicine Service and the Chief Medicine to ensure that the provider records are maintained and updated.

  • Monitors the completion and timeliness of CPRs and maintains a database for review.

  • Assisting the Office of the Chief of Medicine Service with the monitoring of performance measures associated with the delivery of care to inpatients and outpatients throughout the organization.

  • Develop proficiency in generating reports for SAIL (Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning), Compare, and SAIL Administrative Reporting, Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Pyramid Analytics.

  • Responsible for being proficient in the use of data retrieval systems, i.e., VSSC, Pyramid, and other systems as they become available.

  • Responsible for validation of information, follow-up reporting requirements and timely assists in implementation of program changes, as it relates to Medicine service.

  • Collaborates and supports with the Medicine Program Analyst and leadership with resident engagement within the department sub-sections and facilitates the relationship with Research & Education and the clinical preceptors.

  • Acts as support for supervisors, timekeepers, and Payroll, assisting with conflicting demands and competing priorities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30 pm

Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/29/2024.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07.

The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience in coordination of data collection, validation, and presentation; negotiate conflicting priorities; experience with working interdisciplinary teams; manage credentialing for providers; maintain records per Joint Commission requirements; monitoring performance measures. OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or

LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR,

  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. Only education in excess of the first year (18 semester hours) may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-09 level. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The position works primarily in the office and the work is sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
