Job Summary

Under the direction of the Special Education Coordinator, the Special Education Program Specialist (SPS) works cooperatively with administration and staff in supporting students with disabilities for the purpose/s of coordinating assigned special education program components and related activities; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards. The Program Specialist should demonstrate foresight, examine issues and take initiative to improve the quality of education within the School. The Program Specialist ensures all students with disabilities in the Gorman Learning Center are provided a free and appropriate public education through the provision of instructional programs and related services. Additionally, the Program Specialist will screen, assess and identify students who qualify for special education services under one of the 13 qualifying conditions that adversely affect their educational progress. The Program Specialist will develop and provide direct and indirect services within the student's educational setting, based on established IEP goals and objectives.

Resume CREDENTIAL MUST CONTAIN THE DOCUMENT NUMBER AND EXPIRATION DATE(S). 1. Go to the CTC website http://www.ctc.ca.gov 2. Click on "Search for Educator" 3. Click on "Secured Search" 4. Enter your SS Number and Date of Birth 5. Click on the credential needed. Save it as a PDF and upload to Edjoin These items will be required of the successful candidate upon hire:

  • Proof of Vehicle Insurance which includes Bodily Injury Liability of $100,000/$300,000.00 * Cleared Live Scan fingerprint results

  • Current TB clearance

  • Current CPR AND First Aid certification - infants, adults & children

  • Mandated Reporter online training

  • Additional online training as required

Comments and Other Information

  • This is an 11-month position

  • Must have a California Clear Education Specialist credential with the Mild to Moderate Support Needs Authorization

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Special Education.

  • This credentialed position is eligible for participation in CalSTRS retirement

  • This position is eligible for benefits

  • Gorman Learning Charter Network provides up to $10,200 annually to offset the cost of medical, dental and vision for full-time employees
