The duty station for this position is in King County, therefore the incumbent will receive 5% premium pay in addition to the salary listed above.

The Opportunity:

The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is seeking a customer service minded professional, with excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as a Program Specialist 2 with the Certification Operations Division. This position will provide administrative program support for the Certification Bureau, Certification Operations Division, the community, and the criminal justice stakeholders we serve.   • Monitor all forms of incoming documentation and correspondence. 
  • Ensure emails are reviewed, responded to, and processed timely and accurately. 
  • Process all certification documents and forms received through Acadis, Kaseware, and email. Work with stakeholders for any necessary revisions and process guidance.
  • Receive, log, and maintain records in accordance with the public records act, state and agency specific retention schedules, policy and standard operating procedures, and best practices. 
  • Communicate with stakeholders on statute requirements, processes, and status updates. 
  • Create and maintain division and case files as required, utilizing Kaseware and Acadis programs, as well as WSCJTC internal storage requirements. 
  • Track and follow-up with agencies on "open reports" for new information to provide to the Case Review Manager. 
  • Work with the Operations Division Manager and State Auditor's Office for the implementation of compliance audits regarding Agency Reports.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative work -OR- formal education will substitute year-for-year for experience with emphasis on criminal justice, paralegal studies, communication, or political science. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe. 
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, presentation, and listening skills essential for decision making and problem solving. 
  • Excellent customer service. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of current law enforcement and social justice climate.
  • Ability to multi-task, follow timelines and deadlines, show initiative, and work independently and as a contributing professional member of a team. 
  • Efficient use of work time, equipment, and resources. 
  • Organized with strict attention to detail. 

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with an emphasis on criminal justice, paralegal studies, communication, political science, or similar degree plan. 
  • Knowledge of current under-served communities and local cultures. 
  • Previous administrative experience within state or local government agencies.
