Reasonable accommodation for the specific disability will be made for the incumbent/applicant only to the extent medically and reasonably feasible.EEO/AA/F/M/Vet/DisabledJOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the coordination of programs for the development and participation of youth and facilitation of community awareness to obtain community and private support for youth-directed activities.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* Identifies potential activities and programs to enhance the social and educational development of Pulaski County youth participating in Youth Services programs/activities. * Organizes and coordinates special programs offered by Pulaski County Youth Services such as Out of School Time, Public Service Internship, Youth Leadership, ACT Preparation, etc. * Researches funding sources for youth programs; identifies grants available for intervention programs; completes grant applications as needed. * Develops marketing strategies to inform the community of all segments of the Youth Services Department programs including publications, brochures, media press releases, etc. * Researches, develops, and implements fundraising strategies for programmatic support of youth programming. * Solicits corporate and community sponsors for youth activities and programs and donations for fundraisers. * Develops and implements strategic marketing programs aimed at the stimulation of youth interest and participation and obtaining corporate / community sponsorship. * Contacts media to obtain advertisement of programs; develops speaker's bureau to solicit program and financial support from civic organizations, faith-based organizations, social organizations, and public agencies. * Maintains records of all donations and volunteers for each activity. * Compiles reports for grantors/sponsors reflecting program results and participation. * Coordinates Pulaski County Council for Children and Youth Services Advisory Board in bridging community involvement with Youth Services objectives; obtains direction from the board on public awareness activities, solicitation activities, etc. * Oversees the production of the monthly email blast sent to various businesses, organizations, and individuals in the community addressing current events, goals, and achievements of the Department of Youth Services; writes literature, brochures, and handouts as needed concerning the Department's mission.SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Performs other related duties as required.PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: NoneWORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in a smoking-restricted environment with frequent visits to outside agencies and at departmental activities and functions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:*
Considerable knowledge of the theory and principles of, stages of, and influences upon juvenile/youth development. * Considerable knowledge of methods and techniques of marketing and fundraising. * Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Publisher. * Ability to establish and maintain detailed scheduling and recordkeeping systems. * Ability to organize and oversee events involving large groups of people and activities. * Ability to supervise staff involved with program development and administration. * Ability to identify and utilize community-based sources of program support and maintenance. * Ability to organize and prepare statistical and narrative reports. * Ability to write public awareness presentations. * Ability to communicate effectively in writing. * Ability to attend work regularly and reliably. * Skill in the operation of a computer.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* Digital dexterity is necessary for keyboard operation. * Visual acuity is necessary for use of the computer screen. * Ability to communicate effectively, both individually and in groups.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Completion of a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; considerable experience in marketing, social program administration, business administration, public relations, or a related area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. * Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, child maltreatment check, and adult maltreatment check. * The criminal background, child maltreatment, and adult maltreatment checks will also be conducted annually. * Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
