We currently have an opening in Los Angeles, CA office for a Program Scheduler in our Construction Management division to work on Educational Facility projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains program schedules identifying relationships, logic, milestones, and constraints for construction projects of various types

  • Monitors and actively participates in project and program scheduling issues while administering best practices and standards

  • Obtains accurate and timely program schedule updates from project teams and performs QA/QC on information received

  • Creates and develops conceptual what-if schedules for multiple project types including large complex multi-year projects

  • Performs Critical Path analysis and Earned Value analysis

  • Prepares ad-hoc reports and analyses as directed by management

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years full time paid professional experience in Scheduling for an owner or General Contractor, preferably working on multiple educational facilities or public works projects

  • Proficiency in Primavera 15.1 or above and MS Office Suite

  • Experience with projects using Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Superior organizational and planning skills

  • Ability to build efficient working relationships with project teams and department staff

Required Education:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management

OR

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor's degree in any course, but with an additional two (2) years of experience in Construction Scheduling to compensate for the required education.

EXAM NUMBER C5922D SPECIAL SALARY INFORMATION Consistent with Section 6.109.130 of the County of Los Angeles Code, persons holding the title of Public Works Laborer (Item 5922), who are engaged on a permanent full-time basis in sewer maintenance duties, shall be compensated at a rate of two salary schedules higher than otherwise noted. TYPE OF RECRUITMENT Departmental Promotional Opportunity Restricted to permanent employees of the above Department who have successfully completed their initial probationary period. Essential Job Functions A Public Works Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of arduous manual labor tasks such as bending, climbing, stooping, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects in the construction, maintenance and/or repair of dams, debris basins, levees, flood control channels, flood control and water conservation facilities, County roads, and sewer systems. These duties may include graffiti and weed abatement, drain cleaning, traffic light repairs, sign cleaning and repairing, general sewer maintenance, tree planting, median improvements, concrete repairs, wheelchair ramp installation and stocking; and drive automotive equipment to work sites, which may include combination truck units with trailers of 6,000 pounds gross vehicle weight or over. Requirements SELECTION REQUIREMENTS Current status as a Public Works Laborer, Temporary in the service of the County of Los Angeles.* LICENSE A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions. A valid California Class A or Class B Driver License may be required for some positions in this class. PHYSICAL CLASS Physical Class IV – Arduous: Involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working on irregular surfaces; and occasionally requires extraordinary physical activity. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION * To qualify, applicants who presently hold the position of Public Works Laborer, Temporary must have completed at least 120 working days (equivalent to 960 work hours) of satisfactory service with the County of Los Angeles as a Public Works Laborer, Temporary. License Information: All successful applicants for this position will be required to obtain a copy of his/her driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before being appointed. A copy of your driving record must be presented at the time of your appointment. License must not be suspended, restricted, or revoked. AN APPLICANT WHOSE DRIVING RECORD SHOWS FOUR OR MORE MOVING VIOLAITONS WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS WILL NOT BE APPOINTED. The County is required to comply with the Federal regulations which require a pre-employment, post accident, reasonable suspicion, return to work, follow up, and random urine drug and breath alcohol testing of employees who carry commercial driver's licenses and who are assigned to drive County vehicles. Additional Information EXAMINATION CONTENT This examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience based upon application information weighted 50% and an Appraisal of Pormotability weighted 50%. The Appraisal of Promotability will evaluate knowledge and skills, personal and public relations, productivity, written and oral communication, adaptability, and dependability. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each weighted part of the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION The names of the candidates receiving a passing score on the examination will be added to the eligible register and, unless appointed, will appear in the order of their score group for a period of six months following the date of eligibility.
