SUMMARY: The Program Officer (PO) is responsible for implementation of College Success Foundation's (CSF) college services program in order to positively increase CSF scholars' college degree attainment levels. The PO will support scholars in college, and towards college degree attainment through on-campus and remote coaching and support services. The PO will work alongside and collaborate closely with campus partners to ensure CSF scholars are aware of and utilize campus support systems. The Program Officer will also support virtual strategies like: push communications and web content. The PO will assist with data management and reporting efforts necessary to communicate results towards key deliverables. This position will provide services to CSF scholars primarily in-person and on-campus with some remote service taking place

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use CSF's coaching approach with individual students to help them build skills and connect with resources required to persist in college.

  • Use CSF's outreach and engagement strategies to maximize participation in coaching sessions and CSF events.

  • Develop and manage effective, collaborative relationships with CSF priority campuses and identified campus liaisons.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of campus and community resources for young adults through various methods.

  • Facilitate group meetings and events that help students acquire necessary college and career success skills.

  • Convene students to build peer support networks across campus and scholar communities.

  • Assist with college and career content development; deliver content using both virtual and in- person strategies.

  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to develop and enhance advising processes, delivery methods based on data, college partner priorities, and trends in the field.

  • Plan, administer, and manage implementation of student events including monitoring event budgets.

  • Support data management system using SalesForce in order to implement system improvements, run reports for funders, other state contracts and monitor performance.

  • Utilize system to manage consistent, relevant communications to students and partners.

  • Performs other programmatic duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience working students who are underrepresented in higher education.

  • Knowledge of campus/university systems, culture and remote resources for students.

  • Ability to build rapport, assess student needs, make appropriate referrals and build connections to on and off-campus supports.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.

  • Fiscally responsible.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Utilize proactive approaches to problem-solving with decision-making capability.

  • Be a "self-starter", able to work independently while observing and complying with all standards of the supervision personnel and relating programs and services of the employer.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across an organization as well as with students (age 12-22) and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to identify and solve problems.

  • An established commitment to work collaboratively and harmoniously with CSF staff, colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Ability to travel to various college campus' and may be required to travel up to 10% of the time. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience including experience on a college campus in student services, education support, program development and mentoring preferably in the non- profit sector.

  • Alumni of CSF programming, and CSF scholarship recipients (or former recipients) highly preferred.

The employee is frequently required to frequently move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to observe details at close range and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees must be able to work remotely and use collaborative software in order to communicate with others and attend virtual meetings. Hybrid remote schedule is available for this position. Employees must reside in the state of Washington. Employees must be able to handle the stress that is involved in meeting strenuous and competing deadlines, working in high volume areas, and be flexible and able to interact with employees, students, and/or community partners of all levels. After the pandemic, the work environment may remain remote, may be hybrid, or may require working from the headquarters office. This work environment is moderately quiet.
