Program Officer 1

The Position

Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.

Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Program Officer 1 in Carson City. This position will perform compliance duties associated with the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act which include obtaining annual surveys from adult and juvenile secure facilities (detention facilities, jails, and prisons) statewide and conducting on-site visits of facilities to verify data submissions.

The incumbent gathers and analyzes juvenile justice system data including uses of force, uses of confinement, and facility census information, and tracks supervision levels of youth in state juvenile facilities and under youth parole supervision. With direction, the Program Officer 1 is responsible for assuming an assistant role in research, analysis, development, drafting and presenting statewide regulations, policies and procedures, as well as assisting with research and data needs regarding legislation, policy and grant development.
