Standard Working Environment:

  • Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.

  • Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.

  • Expected to be responsive to customers, engaged in work production, resourceful, flexible, and respectful of others.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and 7 years related experience; 4 of which include project management of technical or scientific endeavors.

The Center for Broadening Participation in STEM at Arizona State University is a research organization specializing in developing and implementing inclusive and equitable educational strategies specifically for underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Center for Broadening Participation in STEM (CBP-STEM) provides diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in STEM educational opportunities and experiential learning services and training, and studies the impact of this work on outcomes for STEM faculty, staff and students.

  • Hispanic population: Tap into the talent of this growing population and expunge the achievement gap;

  • Community colleges and HSIs: Support these institutions designed to lead students directly to the workforce or onto a pathway to bachelor's and advanced degrees;

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Ecosystems. (3 years)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of two-year HSIs and community colleges for their general infrastructure and purpose, and as a desirable education opportunity for underrepresented students.

  • Desires the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team pushing the envelope of culturally-responsive practices and student servingness within its own Center and with its multiple HSI partners (primarily 2-year institutions).

Essential Duties

  • Manage caseload for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) faculty and staff that teach or assist students in the STEM field.

  • Assist in the facilitation of programming and capacity building for partner HSIs

  • Comprehend and contribute to the institution's strategy and mission, enhancing cultural responsiveness

  • Evaluate the strategic performance of the STEM department in serving all students

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to complete their STEM-ESS Assessments and to integrate institutional strategic planning into their STEM-ESS plans

  • Ensure alignment of projects, processes, resources, planning, and goals with overall strategy plan of the CBPSTEM.

  • Implement and prioritize and projects within the CBPSTEM.

  • Offer support and insight during significant organizational changes.

  • Demonstrate culturally-responsive practices and behaviors.

  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Commit to fostering student servingness and intentionality among educators to support success of all students, particularly those traditionally marginalized in STEM.

  • Display demonstrable strategic thinking skills.

  • Collaborate with all team members to assist with culturally-responsive and other related professional development.

  • Recruitment building and maintaining positive relationships.

  • Faculty and institutional recruitment within our grants.

  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners and other potential participants, stakeholders, and partners, including those from and supportive of HSIs.

  • Engage in personalized outreach efforts (via Zoom, in person) and networking events and informational sessions.

  • Use provided project management tools.

  • Contribute to and prepare reports for documentation purposes, and to meet Federal Grant requirements.

Salary Range

$63,700 - $72,000 per year, DOE
