The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking an Assistant Chief Operating Officer for Operations. The Assistant COO for Operations serves as a member of the Hospital's Senior Management team and is vital in providing direct oversight, management and supervision of WRCH Operations, including: Dietary, Environmental Services, Campus Police, Risk Management/Safety, Property Management, Treasurer, Volunteer Services and liaison to Facilities Management.

  • Manage and maintain a hospital environment that is sanitary, safe and hazard free across the entire facility, over all shifts, in accordance with industry standards.

Provide oversight (in conjunction with facilities maintenance department) for the maintenance of the WRCH grounds (32 acre campus which houses the main facility and 2 other buildings located on the property) to ensure a quality and safe environment that is comprehensive and cost effective.

  • Provide support and ongoing education to staff on all state and federal regulations in order to maintain constant compliance with standards.

  • Work with the COO, Assistant COO of Compliance, and Department Heads to ensure employees, vendors, and service providers meet performance standards.

  • Manage contracted services to ensure compliance with all contracts standards, regulations and performance expectations.

  • Through interface with IT, Telecom, Facilities Management and Human Resources coordinates and oversees internal property management and allocation of space resources to meet the needs of all departments.

  • Provide coverage for the COO in his/her absences to ensure consistent hospital operations.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Days off are Saturday and Sunday.

Bilingual or multilingual fluency. Candidates must be able to read, write and otherwise communicate in English. ASL preferred.

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.

WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service; 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT).

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in a particular specialty (i.e. scientific, professional, or technical) and must possess current license and/or registration requirements established for the performance of the position, of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.

II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.

III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the (A) required experience.

IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the (A) required experience.

In collaboration with the Chief of Clinical Care Transformation, Directors of Operations, Physician Leaders and others promotes the elements of clinical care transformation. Identifies gaps between current practice and future care models. Helps with design and facilitates the implementation of practice changes. Oversees initial start-up and near-term performance of practice changes. Improves continuously the care processes over time across multiple practice departments and other related duties Responsibilities * Consolidates and synthesizes core processes in all aspects of clinical care transformation: clinical team composition and alignment, office patient flow, roles and responsibilities of team members, clinical information flow and integration of other departments and services. * Establishes effective working relationships with clinical staff including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient service specialists etc., as well as with operations staff including administrators, department managers, supervisors, and team leaders to promote and facilitate the development of the organization's care delivery system. * Maintains content expertise in key care processes and teaches/trains staff and guides practices in adoption of these practices. * Serves as a liaison to Information Systems, EPIC and data analytic staff to coordinate resources and obtain support as needed for care optimization. * Collaborates with Chief of Care Transformation, Director of Care Transformation, Directors of Operations, and Physician Leaders to ensure alignment toward organizational goals especially as they pertain to optimization of clinical quality, patient experience, provider experience and cost of care delivery. * Creates, manages, communicates, and adjusts work plans including timelines, resource needs and accountabilities for multiple initiatives. Manages and organizes tasks to successfully complete work. Delegates work as required. Establishes effective controls to assure quality and timeliness of results.
