You will serve as the Chief of the Trends Analysis Division (TAD) within the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI), as well as a technical advisor to the ODI Office Director, the Associate Administrator for Enforcement, and the NHTSA Executive Director.
NHTSA is looking for an experienced professional with expertise in planning, conducting, and completing data analysis projects.


As a Program Manager, you will:
Provide professional, managerial and technical leadership and guidance to a professional staff, mainly engineers, analysts, and statisticians.
Be responsible for data analytics of all information sources, Corporate Information Factory (CIF) management and requirements development, initial evaluations of all Part 579 data, identification of all manufactures subject to Part 579 reporting requirements, and Early Warning Reporting (EWR) data analysis.
Manage the submissions of external communications from all manufactures of motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment in accordance with 49 CFR Part 579.
Communicate extensively with personnel and officials for the purpose of gathering data and disseminating technical information concerning defect trends, Early Warning Reporting (EWR) submission, and other data analytics. Assist in preparing, or make oral presentations to higher-level management officials.
Assist in the development of plans, programs, goals, accomplishments and objectives for the daily operation of the Divisions activities.

For the GS-15, to qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include:

Experience in analyzing and managing large scale databases and complex data systems.
Experience directly leading, managing, or supervising professional staff.
Experience working with motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
