Overview

The Midwest Pediatric Device Consortium is a newly FDA funded pediatric device consortium that will focus on the advancement of pediatric medical devices. The MPDC is seeking a Health Equity Coordinator, who will assist in coordinating the objectives within the MPDC focused on health equity.

This position will facilitate integration of health equity activities amongst all members of the MPDC and serve as a representative of the MPDC across the collaborating sites, which include Nationwide Children's Hospital, The Ohio State University, Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic Children's. Most importantly, this individual will be responsible for achieving the objectives specified below. They will also maintain necessary communication and updates with other sites, including the other PDCs across the country. This individual will work with the Executive Committee of the PDC, specifically with the Chief Diversity Officer, who will provide oversight to the initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and collection of required data to promote health equity initiatives.

  • Provide a menu of services that support the research community to engage stakeholders early and often in the research lifecycle. These services are designed with the specific intent to actively engage underrepresented populations.

  • Examples include services of engagement specialists, training and consultation in equitable research design, and a toolkit of creative solutions for including persons with diverse backgrounds (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender) and abilities (e.g., sensory, physical, language).

  • Serves as liaison for health equity efforts between all institutions within MPDC and other PDC sites.

  • Provide a menu of resources that empower stakeholders to be active partners throughout the research lifecycle and translational research spectrum. These include the community stakeholder academies (CSA), a digital community stakeholder registry, as well as a Stakeholder Faculty Engagement Board (SFEB) through the OSU Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).

  • Leverage our learning healthcare systems and partnerships with existing networks (e.g., CTSA hubs, MARCH, ATRN, PedsNET, PFK, FQHCs) to generate RWD and RWE in diverse communities, as well as foster collaboration and exchange best practices with other Pediatric Device Consortia.

  • Seek out and establish funding opportunities for underrepresented populations that align with MPDC initiatives.

  • Reach out and establish relationships with other PDC counterparts to enhance collaboration opportunities.

  • Evaluate and establish unmet needs within the underrepresented populations in the region.

  • Seek out and identify community leaders to represent stakeholders in MPDC decisions and advisory council. Coordinate monthly meetings with Chief Diversity Officer, Managing Director, other necessary members of MPDC.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and maintains flexible schedule as required.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Administration, or related field, preferred. Licensure Requirement:

Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines. Skills: • Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds, required. • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, required. • Must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, flexibility, organizational skills, and creativity. • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication required to engage a diverse group of stakeholders. • Must be able to organize and coordinate multiple project deadlines and deliverables while keeping attention to detail. • Meeting facilitation skills, preferred. • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Experience:

3 years of relevant professional experience.
