Manufacturing is a pillar within Meta's Preconstruction Team supporting data center construction. We exist to support the predictable delivery of capacity at scale through manufactured solutions.
The Manufacturing Team's primary focus is supply chain engagement and optimization. We accept Manufacturing Informed Designed (MID) components and orchestrate their detailing and prototyping to optimum manufacturability then work with our partners in Delivery to plan logistics and integration to avoid challenges in construction. This team is comprised of strategic designers, strategic builders, tactical specialists, plus internal and external subject matter experts (SME) including preconstruction managers, contractors, schedulers, equipment reliability engineers, and sourcing specialists.
Program Manager, Manufacturing Responsibilities
Develop budgets, negotiate, award communicate, contracts, and POs with supplier network
Manufacturing execution including configuring supply chain, production, scheduling, strategic inventory, logistics, and integration in collaboration with our delivery and quality teams
Supply chain and vendor management through execution (i.e. audits, troubleshooting, supplier annual reviews)
Develop First-of-Kind Component Standards in collaboration with Engineering, Design, and Quality (ex. logistics planning, advanced work packages, and QA & Cx strategies / procedures)
Track component manufacturing goals, KPI data, vendor performance metrics, stack ranking, and incentive program
Manage the prototyping and mockup efforts with in-flight project sites including the communications with site teams, vendors, partners, and other stakeholder groups. This includes reporting on status, lessons learned, and adjustments needed to refine the designs of the components.
Identify and support assessment of new vendors to qualify, grow, evolve, and measure, for potential use in the program.
Research, assess, and report on vendor availability and potential throughput, project demand curves, and sourcing projections for components targeted for manufacturing.
Manage status updates on component development.
Research and report on industry trends as needed to support the team efforts.
Partner with cross functional teams on related efforts to ensure alignment and transparency across Design, Engineering, & Construction (DEC).
Partner with cross functional teams to assess cost and schedule impacts related to components and keep the team updated as to trends, risks, and other issues identified by this data.
Partner with vendors and cross functional partners to identify, track, and mitigate risks related to safety, quality, logistics, trucking/transportation, storage, etc. for components.
Partner closely with Sourcing Team for strategy and deployment of owner furnished equipment.
Partner with Global QA/QC Team to identify and strategically shift to the vendors and manufacturers, appropriate elements of the multi-trade integration and commissioning efforts to reduce onsite efforts. Your objective is to embed as much trade work and commissioning as is appropriate at the optimum points of fabrication from start through to the final point of integration.
Support team learning by bring lessons learned, vendors, new technology, and other topics to the group for exploration.
Support the use of LEAN, AGILE, SCRUM, etc. to continuously improve and evolve the efficiency of the team, partner groups, and vendors.
Domestic travel approximately 40% to construction and fabrication sites required (minimal international travel)
