Salary Range: Up to $45,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

Provide leadership and supervision for the department in the areas of student programming, campus traditional programming, budgeting, and daily administrative functions. Responsible for collaborating with small groups and committees to design, develop, plan, prepare, and implement quality programming and events at UTSA. Responsible for promoting and providing education on campus.

Core Responsibilities

  • Facilitates, promotes, develops, and coordinates large, campus-wide events/activities such as Howdy Rowdy Bash. BestFest, Dia en la Sombrilla, and other assigned programs including assessment and impact on student belonging and retention.
  • Advises the Roadrunner Productions and Rowdy Crew, sponsored student organizations in facilitating program production, budget management, student leadership development, risk management, and coordination of campus programming and spirit and traditions programming.
  • Develops and implements strategies to increase the quality and quantity of student programming.
  • Coordinates events and programs specifically designed for the downtown campus.
  • Interprets institutional and system policies related to student organizations for students attending the Downtown campus. Evaluates policies and procedures and make recommendations to the Director of the Student Involvement Center.
  • Serves as a liaison between Fiesta San Antonio Commission and UTSA.
  • Promotes and supports student usage of RowdyLink and the experiential transcript.
  • Serves as a member of the Expressive Activity Response Team addressing elevated demonstrations on campus. Assists with oversight of small-scale campus expressive activity.
  • Supports programs and events sponsored by the Student Involvement Center.
  • Supports university-wide programs including, but not limited to, Roadrunner Days, Homecoming, and Commencement.
  • Collaborates with other campus offices to promote student engagement including Housing and Residence Life, Career Services, Athletics, Center for Civic Engagement, as well as academic colleges and departments.
  • Recruits, supervises, and trains a graduate assistant and student staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Anthology Engaged, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Demonstrated skills in the following areas: student advising, budgeting, program planning, project management, marketing, and effective collaboration with broad constituencies.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and risk management planning.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of student advising, and event planning in a university setting preferred.

Working Conditions

Working Environment:

  • High-student-contact office environment.
  • Accompany students on university-sponsored trips such as conferences.
  • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
  • After-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands:

  • Exerts up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
