Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Program Manager for our Livonia, MI location. This role is responsible to be the technical interface between Schaeffler and the customer.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for ensuring profitability, timing, and performance of projects

  • Communicating internally and supporting the development of technical solutions based upon a customer's current and future needs or requirements

  • Acting as the technical liaison at the customer to promote existing Schaeffler products or concepts

  • Building a sustainable relationship based upon technical expertise with the technical staff at the customer

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline

  • 3-5 years experience in automotive engineering

  • Must possess strong communication and presentation skills

  • Must have a meticulous attention to detail and a continuous improvement focus

  • Assertive approach to solve problems

  • Ability to influence and guide while being open to technical feedback

  • Results oriented, self-motivated, and organized work ethic

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

Responsible to manage and coordinate between the technical, procurement, manufacturing, build and test aspects of a program from the proof of concept phase through production. McLaren Engineering, the engineered products division of Linamar Corporation, is a company focused on the design, development & testing of advanced automotive driveline & powertrain systems. Key Accountabilities: * Manage project timeline and deliverables with updated timing/work plans. Responsible for driving project requirements within Linamar organization to meet work plan objectives, and alerting management when tasks are off track. * Work directly with internal groups and customers as needed to manage project timing and deliverables. * Coordinate cost studies, manufacturing feasibility and advanced prototype customer quotes. Work with cross functional teams such as cost estimators, purchasing, engineering and partner companies to complete the cost information. * Coordinate with engineering development team and other Linamar facilities as appropriate to manage any procurement, build and test activities related to the projects. Follow the prototype and test quote processes. * Support project budget objectives and standardize project financial tracking formats. * Facilitate resolution of open issues and bring the results to conclusion for go/no-go decisions. * Facilitate project status reviews and gate reviews. Document and distribute meeting minutes. * Document project status summaries for reports-outs such as management reviews, customer meetings and technical reviews. * Manage the transition from the product engineering and development phase to product launch with handoff to the production teams. Provide ongoing support as needed to assure successful production launch. * Facilitates interaction with the Customer and the internal management team. * Promotes coordination and communication of those involved on the program team. * Leads all program phase and gate review activities. * Work with APQP Team members to assure completion of all phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, all tooling, fixtures, product testing, sampling, PPAP, launch, etc * Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. * Act as a key liaison between company, customer, and suppliers during project phases. * This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of this position and it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities or working conditions associated with the position. Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field and 5-10 years of related experience. MBA or PMP certificate would be a plus. * Lead large-scale process for a project that includes project management, process analysis, development, and implementation. * Implement Best-In-Class approach and develop project definition, direction and lead process from inception to final deployment into production or completion of process. * Ability to manage project budgets and expenditures to project plan budget. * Requirement to provide training and continuous monitoring during and after project completion to ensure compliance with the changed process. * Ensure champions, process owners and functional leaders are provided the business support required to develop and to implement process changes Desired Characteristics: * Ability to negotiate and work with external experts regarding technical aspects of projects. * A creative problem-solving mind-set with business acumen to aid teams in obtaining ideas, and lead through development and execution. * Proven business knowledge, including the ability to assess and pursue new opportunities. * Strong skills in: strategic thinking, teaming, communication, project management and analytical skills * Exhibit high personal standards of commitment and integrity. * Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little direction.
