Responsibilities

The Program Manager will report to the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) Senior Program Manager to oversee a major technical insertion phase of the Navigation Software for the CPS weapon system. Working within the Strategic Programs, Hypersonics & Reentry Business Area, the PM will manage technical teams and Draper's Prime customer to ensure common expectations, prioritize and direct technical development, monitor, and report progress. The Program Manager is responsible for overall technical quality, schedule, and budget for the program.

The PM will:

  • Be responsible for developing a strong relationship with the Prime customer, the ultimate government customers, and the numerous other national team stakeholders that contribute to the CPS program.

  • Be responsible for management of deliverables to meet customer expectations within budget and schedule.

  • Prepare regular management summaries on EVMS, Risks & Opportunities, IMS and schedules, and budgets, and present them at monthly Program Status Reviews and periodic internal Executive Level Reviews.

  • Oversee the Technical Director, Task Leaders / Control Account Managers for each task area, and prepare proposals and task products leveraging Draper and departmental standards and processes (task agreements, schedules, deliverables, control account plans, earned value status).

  • Be comfortable operating through and driving progress in an ambiguous environment with incomplete information.

  • Help develop technology roadmaps and identify areas for business pursuits and internal development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading cross functional technical teams

  • Desired previous technical expertise/experience in one of the following, GNC, Aerospace Systems, Missile/Aircraft Systems, DoD Weapon Systems

  • Excellent communication skills across variety of audiences (engineers and executives alike, government and industry stakeholders at multiple levels)

  • Proven leadership in technical project execution environment

  • Technical depth in at least one relevant area of aerospace development and production, familiarity with navigation, missile systems, and associated avionics technologies a plus.

  • Technical breadth across a range of engineering disciplines

  • Working knowledge of US Government contract and EV requirements

  • Experience in proposal development and contractual negotiations with Prime contractors, commercial vendors, and US Government

  • Proficient with Project Management and Collaboration Tools, e.g. MS Project, Jira, Confluence, MS Teams. Proficient manipulating data in Excel

  • US Citizen

  • Ability to travel (10-25%)
