Our software engineers work across our technology stack, developing new features, and are involved in the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering, architecture and design, UX and wireframes, to coding and testing. As a Program Manager you will coordinate the product architecture owners, product owners and delivery teams, provide governance and metric reporting for the program as well as work closely with others in engineering and across departments.

What you'll do:

  • Enable development teams to leverage modern continuous integration and delivery tools to ship code to production weekly

  • Stay abreast of architectural recommendations. Interact with customers; understand use cases and help the team validate proposed solutions.

  • Constantly improve product quality, security, and performance

  • Remove obstacles and keep processes lean to get products in the hands of customers quickly

  • Contribute to the knowledge base, wiki and other Flexera resources to help build the best customer experience.

  • Be responsible for the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the process being followed by the team

  • Facilitate close cooperation across all roles and functions

  • Ensure that the team is fully functional and productive

  • Keep team(s) focused within the context of the project vision and goals

  • Maintain open honest communication between everyone involved with the project

  • Coach others in the use and application of agile practices

  • Prompt the team to discuss and think through issues when they're identified and facilitate decision making

You'll be expected to have:

  • Experience in managing and/or leading development teams and can demonstrate processes or programs you have been involved in that have proven to be successful

  • Ability to reason about software, approaches, expectations, and performance from a high level - Experience with following is a plus: Project management, Web Applications, Go, microservice architectures, Amazon EC2/S3 or other cloud services

  • Superb communication skills to work within and across teams

ABOUT THIS POSITION: The Public Health Department is accepting applications to fill the position of Disease Control & Prevention Program Manager in Santa Barbara. The Disease Control & Prevention Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the program's goals and objectives throughout Santa Barbara County. The manager ensures the performance of core public health functions of assessment, policy development, and evaluation of activities that promote county-wide disease control and prevention efforts and public safety. The Disease Control & Prevention Programs work to prevent and control communicable disease outbreaks, promote health, and monitor the health status of our communities. Preventing epidemics and controlling communicable disease is one of the core functions of public health. Communicable Disease staff responds to outbreaks and single cases of communicable disease in order to prevent spread within the community. The Disease Control and Prevention subdivision of the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department is comprised of the Tuberculosis, Communicable Disease, Sexually Transmitted Disease, HIV/AIDS, and Immunization Programs.
