Job Description Summary
The Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) of the University of Pennsylvania is a world leader in developing and conducting innovative clinical trials for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The mission of the ACC Clinical Research Unit (CRU) is to advance the science of cancer care, serve our patients by improving clinical outcomes, and offer the best available innovative care to trial participants. The ACC CRU is instrumental in the development and implementation of cancer clinical trials that offer cutting-edge oncology treatments. The ACC CRU is currently comprised of 12 Research Teams that support disease/discipline specific cancer programs within the ACC, all reinforced by the ACC CRU Central Program that provides focused Operations, Regulatory, and Education & Quality Assurance infrastructure. The ACC CRU Education & Training Program supports a comprehensive centralized orientation and training program to provide generalized clinical research training to Clinical Research Professionals (CRPs) intended to foster scientific integrity, professional advancement, and ethical comportment, as well as to abide by the dictates of federal, state, and local/institutional regulations and requirements.
The Education & Training Program Manager (PM) will directly report to the ACC CRU Associate Director of Education and Quality Assurance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Director and the Clinical Research Education and Training Specialist to develop, implement, and continually update an overarching training and orientation program for new CRU hires as well as continuing education and professional development opportunities for current CRPs. He/she will be responsible for supporting, supervising, and mentoring the Clinical Research Education and Training Specialist. He/she will actively collaborate with Penn Medicine and University of Pennsylvania stakeholders, including physician investigators to ensure all programs comply with current FDA and GCP standards while engaging CRU leaders in peer-to-peer collaborations. He/she will also lead and participate in widespread CRP engagement activities.
The Education & Training PM will establish and oversee a comprehensive training program for new and current CRPs including physicians, Central and Research Team Program Managers, Clinical Research Nurses, Research Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Research Coordinators, Regulatory Coordinators, Biospecimen Coordinators, and Research Assistants. These programs will prepare CRPs to independently manage and oversee Phase I - IV complex clinical trials including, but not limited to, consenting, eligibility, screening, enrollment, managing participant treatment, proper documentation including collecting and reporting research data, reporting serious adverse events, and ensuring adherence to protocol requirements.
The successful candidate will manage the Orientation Program for all new ACC CRU CRPs and support the current Education and Training onboarding and orientation program. This program includes Clinical Research Education Week (CREW), Practical Application of Research Competencies (PARC), one-on-one training sessions supported by the current electronic infrastructure, providing new CRPs and supervisors with organized and easily accessible training materials, tracking new CRPs progress for Research Team Program Managers, and timely communication of significant challenges encountered by new hires, therefore providing transparency into all aspects of the onboarding and orientation program. The Education and Training PM will interview candidates, check references and make hiring recommendations to Research Teams as requested. The program manager will continue to enhance tools and assessments to ensure effective training of new hires and reduce time to proficiency including tracking new hire metrics, facilitating feedback surveys, and engaging subject matter experts for special projects.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required and 5-7 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) BSN preferred.; or master's degree and 3-5years of related experience. Oncology clinical research experience preferred.
