Academic Support Programs has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Program Manager (Counseling Services Coordinator (E S 7))to join our team. The Program Manager will serve as the administrator and day-to-day operations coordinator for the Center for Learning and Undergraduate Enrichment (CLUE). CLUE is a large, multidisciplinary learning center that operates generally from 7pm-11pm, Sunday through Thursday during the academic year.

As a key member of the ASP team, the individual selected for this position will bear primary responsibility for supervising and managing the daily operations of CLUE. To this end, they will also be responsible for supporting the hiring, training and professional development of CLUE tutors. This person must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff on many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Support Programs, the Program Manager will have the following responsibilities:

Manage the Center for Learning and Undergraduate Enrichment (CLUE) (60%)

Supervise daily operation of CLUE program.

Coordinate communication with student-support and other service organizations, educational partners, student groups, and other academic partners.

Design quarterly CLUE program for both in person and virtual tutoring.

Support Larger Learning Environment (LLE) GSA in recruitment of professors and the training of their undergraduate or graduate students to participate in CLUE quarterly discussion sessions.

In collaboration with ASP Director, support LLE GSA in support of exam review tutors.

Develop new concepts and implement changes, additions, and improvements to the CLUE program to support evolving student needs, and streamline operations.

Assist in maintaining unit storage room.

Order, store, maintain, and manage CLUE technology, with the support of UAA IT staff, such as laptops, TVs, check-in systems, and tracking.

In collaboration with ASP Assistant Director, advertise and promote CLUE services throughout campus. Avenues of promotion will include the use of social media, updating the CLUE/ASP website, and other relevant strategies.

Create, update, and act as administrator for several unit list-servs. Manage CLUE email account.

Monitor student satisfaction with services through a variety of assessment tools; provide and make appropriate changes.

Collaborate with campus partners and student groups to enhance services.

Ensure efficient use of Mary Gates Hall spaces and safeguard the physical condition of MGH facilities. Schedule facility needs and requirements with relevant building coordinators.

Support Summer Advising & Orientation activities for new incoming students through participation in presentations, workshops, and events for new students and parents.

Supervise CLUE staff (30%)

In collaboration with ASP Assistant Director, recruit and hire CLUE student employees.

In collaboration with ASP Director, develop, teach, and assess quarter long tutor training course.

Monitor employee performance, evaluate tutor performance, and handle any grievances.

Provide leadership opportunities and professional development for CLUE employees.

Work with SAS Administrative staff to ensure compliance with all employment requirements (especially with respect to ASE Union and student employment).

Monitor and ensure timely submission of payroll forms and all employment documentation.

Offer creative innovation and other duties as assigned (10%)

Serve as an ASP representative on UAA and campus-wide committees depending on area of expertise.

Collaborate with ASP colleagues to support relevant new student programs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Master's Degree in Higher Education, STEM or relevant discipline or field.

Minimum 1 year of experience in a college or university-level setting.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Teaching, tutoring, academic coaching or mentorship experience.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and personnel in a host of other departments and programs on campus.

Strong management and organizational skills and be detailed oriented.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/education in STEM field.

Experience managing a program or center.

One year or more of student/youth supervisory experience.

Teaching and curriculum development within a higher education setting.

Prior work with students who struggle with the transition into higher education.

Experience using social networks to promote programming.

Bring humor, creativity, and a strong work ethic to the team.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The majority of hours are Monday- Friday 8am-5pm. The candidate must be able to work an occasional non-traditional and shifting schedule including late afternoon and evenings at certain times of the year. These include (but are not limited to):

During Fall Quarter one later shift to support our class for new tutors (roughly 11am-7pm)

During first week of Fall Quarter being present for CLUE operational hours (7 pm- 11 pm) for first week to assure overall coordination of team and the technology to support them is successful.

May occasionally need to work on some University holidays.

May occasionally need to be present for CLUE operational hours (7pm-11pm), on an as needed basis.
